“Behind every successful man, there is a woman”- this has almost become a cliché. Thiour deepest desire to see the women in our lives creating a nurturing atmospheour growth and success. We want the food on the table hot and bed ready to twhat about the women who succeed in other hemisphere of life? Who or what csuccess?I don‟t want to harp on about the challenges a woman faces –at home or at work. Enough habeen said about the struggle to find the correct balance between building a carefamily at the same time, the bias at workplace, the wage- gap, the „glass ceiling‟, the lacsupport in some families. Today let‟s focus on the positivity-what can we learn from those wsucceed despite those struggles. Is it possible for a woman to be happy at work and at home? Women who manafamilies‟ can they succeedin the workplace too? It takes a lot of effort, empatinclusiveness to,say; make both her kids feel equally loved and all her staff etakes a lot of pre-planning and decision making to make sure that the upcomin

family goes without a hitch and without disturbing the child preparing from ensure that the reports are double checked before the CEO‟s visit. It takes determination andhard work to make a marriage successful and at the same time keep working olaunch despite failures.

But all this is possible when she has a firm support structure to keep her stefalters. She is tough-shecan fight her battles, but it‟s much easier if there is someonher back. Let‟s be that person in her life. Let‟s make a conscious effort to emothers, sisters, wives, daughters and friends don‟t stand alone when they neert tomake their dreams come true.Lots of Cheers! (Dr. Sumit Datta)

ARRESTING SPURIOUS TRIPPING OF ALL THE FEEDERS IN BUS 1 &2 OF 220KV BUS OF MRS 220kV BUS DIFFERENTIAL PROTECTION

Background :-ISP gets power for its new plant, from DVC by two 220kV lines. For power system stability andreliability in POWER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM, 2 bus systems are adopted.

Bus Differential Scheme:Wherever there is fault in bus 1 or 2, all feeders connected to that particular bus should trip, thereby isolating the faulty bus from healthy bus. In case of fault in any Out-going feeders or incoming DVC lines, the respective feeders should trip. If it does not trip then after some delay, feeders connected to that particular bus (on which the faulty feeder was connected at that time)will trip thereby isolating the faulty system.

Happening: In last one year two 220kV faults occurred (in line #2). On first instance, both bus feeders tripped inbus differential protection leading to blackout in new plant area even after fault clearance intime. On another instance, some feeders got tripped leading to partial power failure even after fault clearance in time. Whenever there is partial or full power failure, there is an emergency typeof situation due to process requirement.

Action Taken:Disturbance recordings were sent to M/s ABB on both the instances, but no conclusion could bedrawn.

Findings /Observations:

1) B/C differential CTs (one of the two sets) were wrongly connected to other CTs of the bus2 group.

2) One of the isolator inputs hard wiring was wrongly swapped with other wirings. This led to thenon -segregation of buses as per the relay algorithm.

“Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The rounsquare holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. Andrespect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilifyonly thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push t

forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Becauseare crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
