Introduction:This document provides a guide to installing and configuring the Linksys SPA942 SIP phone with Merge’s Connect and Connect+ services.
Preparation:Before you commence with installation, configuration and use of the Linksys SPA942 for Merge’s Connect and Connect+ services you should
Have taken delivery of your Linksys SPA942
Ensure you are broadband or data network connected
Confirm your office cabling and network infrastructure will support the use of Merge services
Make sure you have the notification email sent to you during the Merge sign up process – this email contains the account details you will need to configure the Linksys SPA942
Setup and connectionThe Linksys SPA942 needs to be connected to a port on your data network in order to function.
In the event you have a spare port on your data network you can just connect your Linksys SPA942 to the spare port, however in the event that you do not have a spare network port you can connect your PC or laptop through the Linksys SPA942.
There are two data ports on the back of your Linksys SPA942 labelled WAN and PC.
Unplug the cable connecting your PC to the data network and plug it into the port on the Linksys SPA942 labelled WAN then plug your PC into the port on the Linksys SPA942 labelled PC.
Your PC will now connect through your Linksys SPA942 so long as there is power to the Linksys SPA942.
In the event you lose power to the Linksys SPA942 you can unplug your PC from the Linksys SPA942 and plug it directly into the broadband or data network. When the power is restored to the Linksys SPA942 you can reconnect as previously.

Press the menu key on the Linksys SPA942 – the button
Press the down arrow on the Navigation button (the round button in the centre of the phone) till you get to option 9 Network and press select
