On behalf of Singapore Yacht Events, I am delighted to welcome you to the ninth annual Asia Pacific Yachting Conference (APYC).

The symposium builds upon the increasing success of each of the previous editions, which have annually attracted many key industry leaders and yachting professionals, with a new and rapidly developing yachting market in Asia helping to increase business confidence and growth.

Andy TreadwellCEO & Founder, Singapore Yacht Events

The Asia Pacific Yachting Conference creates opportunities for the market to capitalize on the potential of this region. The ASEAN nations alone possess a perfect combination of stunning islands, crystal clear waters, incredible underwater life, private anchorages, dynamic and unique cultures, coupled with an economic growth that is as yet untapped, providing a vast potential business opportunity and new customer base.

This is essentially the driving force behind the objective and mission of the APYC 2017. I invite you all to join and contribute to charting a positive future for ownership, charter, purchase and infrastructure.

Martin H. RedmayneChairman & Editor in Chief, The Superyacht Group

MEET OUR 2017 ADVISORY BOARD

MARTIN REDMAYNEChairman & Editor-in-ChiefThe Superyacht Group

MARYANNE EDWARDSChief Executive OfficerAustralian International Marine Export Group, Superyacht Australia

Having graduated in Business Studies and Mathematics back in the early 80s with a love of sailing, Martin joined a 90-foot sailing yacht. This introduction to the world of superyachts lasted no more than a year and after a swift return to London, an interest in the media was fulfilled when a senior position became available at Boat International. Five years later, in 1992, a rash decision was made to fly solo and develop a brand new magazine. The Superyacht Report has now established itself as the authority in the market, with intelligent and informed reporting on all aspects of the superyacht world. With sister magazine titles developed over the years, and the creation of a solid digital portfolio and intelligence division, his company The Superyacht Group is one of the leading information suppliers to the market. Martin has spent time on over 1,500 yachts around the globe, interviewed hundreds of owners, CEOs and designers, providing a rare insight and unrivalled knowledge of the superyacht market.

MaryAnne Edwards CEO of the Australian International Marine Export group has been responsible for the growth and success of this organisation since 2008. AIMEX is now seen as one of the most successful and professionally run trade organisations in Australia. In 2009 Maryanne took over the management of Superyacht Base Australia and managed the integration of SYBA (now Superyacht Australia) under the umbrella of AIMEX.  This initiative has given the superyacht sector far more relevance and clout within government and the Australian industry is now seen as a significant industry sector.  In 2014 Maryanne instigated the development of the Australian Commercial Marine Group (ACMG) to provide representation and information to the commercial defence sector. This group is now gaining traction. AIMEX is seen by the Australian government as the peak body for all 3 sectors, export, superyacht and commercial sectors.MaryAnne recently initiated and gained funding for the Superyacht economic impact study and she has been instrumental in lobbying and gaining government support for many initiatives. MaryAnne has extensive experience within commercial entities and member based organizations having held CEO and senior management positions in NZ and Australia within the Oil, Automotive, Sports and Entertainment, and Management Consultancy sectors. Maryanne is a graduate of Victoria University.

SUZY RAYMENTEditorial DirectorAsia Yacht Press

Suzy Rayment is a well-respected Asia-based yachting writer and editor and has been sailing and cruising in Hong Kong for over 30 years. She first became Editor of Ahoy!, the house magazine of The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, in 1997, and ran the magazine for 14 years. In 2004 she was headhunted by Swiss publishing house Edipresse, who were looking for a Managing Editor to establish a new boating lifestyle title, Yachtstyle. Suzy built the magazine into Asia’s premier and most authoritative yachting publication and was Managing Editor for 8 years. Suzy bought Yachtstyle  from Edipresse in 2012 and sold it 3 years later to Singapore-based Lux Inc. Suzy promptly opened Asia Yacht Press, an all-service press agency, attuned to the digital age, and is already making waves. Her next project is a cruising guide for Hong Kong waters.
