Principal’s Report
Our thanks go to the students and parents that supported the Book Fair last Friday. With almost $5,000 worth of books being sold, our school received about $1,500 commission in the form of new books for the school library.
AECG Meeting - Postponed
The next Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) meeting will be held on Wednesday, 15 June at Condobolin High School from 11.00 am. We would love to see any interested parents, carers and community come along to this meeting.
Three-way Interviews
We are hoping to distribute half yearly reports on Monday, 20 June.
On Wednesday 22 June and Wednesday 29 June 2016, you will have the opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss his or her progress. These interviews will be 3-way interviews, with the student, the parent and the teacher. At the interview students will receive their portfolios.
Notes are being sent home this week. Please return the notes to your child’s class teacher by Tuesday, 14 June 2016. Ensure that you select 3 preference times between 3.15 pm and 6.00 pm. You will be informed in writing of the interview time.

Condobolin Amateur Swimming Club is in jeopardy of folding this year with 2 AGM’s
already held and still not a full committee.
With over a 100 registered swimmers last season we still can’t seem to fill the executive committee
required to run a club.
Our first AGM saw five people turn up - not even enough to run a quorum. Second AGM saw 10
people turn up with the only executive committee position to be filled being the Vice President.
Positions that still need to be filled are: President, Secretary and Treasurer.
Condobolin amateur swimming club is all about the children, whilst the parents get to have a catch
up with friends, children get to see their mates, but this may not happen this season with the lack of
interest in running the club. The club has been going strong for many years and it would be a great
shame to see it all come to an end.
Once a club folds it is very difficult to start it again and for the sake of our enthusiastic swimming
club kids, we are calling for volunteers to take on these positions please.
THERE WILL BE A THIRD AND FINAL AGM on Wednesday 8th
June at 6.00 pm at the
Condobolin Sports Club.

CWA Public Speaking Competition
Bonnie Leighton, William Cooney, Billie O’Bryan and Emma Buckland were STRONG, SMART
and PROUD representatives of Condobolin Public School participating in the CWA Public
Speaking Competition last Tuesday. The event was held at the beautiful Wiradjuri Cultural Study
Centre and was attended by over 50 participants from schools surrounding this area. Bonnie
and William were fantastic in their delivery, facing tough competition with thirty competitors in
the Stage 2 section. They displayed great sportsmanship in congratulating the winner and have
both been inspired to continue building their public speaking skills so they can return next year.
Billie and Emma also presented their speeches in a manner that staff and students would have
been proud to see. They displayed all the features of wonderful public speakers with a well
written speech delivered with confidence, good volume and great connection to the audience with
body language and eye contact. All speakers in the Stage 3 section were exceptional and judges
would have had an extremely difficult time selecting the overall winner.
This was a wonderful learning experience for all students involved and we thank family members
for their support both leading up to the event and on the day. Ms Horvat was extremely proud to
accompany our students. Well done Bonnie, William, Emma and Billie!
Snapshots from Stage 2 – Class 4B
Students in Class 4B have been learning about the British Colonisation of Australia. During the
last few weeks students have had the opportunity to step back in time and consider the
perspectives of both the new settlers to Australia and the Aboriginal inhabitants already here.
Students wrote diary entries, assuming the roles of Captain Cook, and a member from a local
tribe living in the Botany Bay area. These writing samples were published and proudly displayed
on a model of the Endeavour in the 4B classroom.
