    Gen 3:4-7: The serpent said to the woman, "You surelywill not die! For God knows that in the day you eat from ityour eyes will be opened, and you will be like God,knowing good and evil." When the woman saw that the

    tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to theeyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise,she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to herhusband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both ofthem were opened, and they knew that they were naked;

    Thus the fall of man refers to humanitys

    first transgression of a divinecommandment; its first contravention of a

    divine mandate

    1 Tim 2:14: And it was not Adam who wasdeceived, but the woman being deceived, fell

    into transgression.

    Thus the fall of man refers to humanitys firsttransgression of a divine commandment; its firstcontravention of a divine mandate Hos 6:7: But like Adam they have transgressed the

    covenant; There they have dealt treacherouslyagainst Me.

    Exod 19:5-6: Now then, if you will indeed obey Myvoice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My

    own possession among all the peoples, for all theearth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom ofpriests and a holy nation. These are the words thatyou shall speak to the sons of Israel.

    Alienation from God

    Man hid himself from Gods immediatepresence Gen 3:8-10: They heard the sound of the

    LORD God walking in the garden in the coolof the day, and the man and his wife hidthemselves from the presence of the LORDGod among the trees of the garden. Then the

    LORD God called to the man, and said to him,"Where are you?" He said, "I heard the soundof You in the garden, and I was afraidbecause I was naked; so I hid myself."

    Rom 8:19-22: For the anxious longing of thecreation waits eagerly for the revealing of thesons of God. For the creation was subjected to

    futility, not willingly, but because of Him whosubjected it, in hope that the creation itself alsowill be set free from its slavery to corruption intothe freedom of the glory of the children of God.

    For we know that the whole creation groans andsuffers the pains of childbirth together until now.

    1. By nature being cursed as well as man

    2. By the womans curse being related toher childbearing

    3. By the enmity that would ensue betweenthe seed of the woman and the serpent

    4. By the names Adam & Eve Gen 2:20: The man gave names to all the

    cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to

    every beast of the field, but for Adam therewas not found a helper suitable for him.

    Adam means man or mankind.

    Gen 3:20: Now the man called his wifes

    name Eve, because she was the mother ofall the living.

    Eves name means life.

    In addition to the indications of the effectof the fall on Adams posterity expressedin Genesis 3

    The Scripture teaches that Adam wasacting for the entire human race in theGarden of Eden.

    This means that when Adam sinned, hesinned for all of us, as the representativeof humanity.

    Rom 5:12: Therefore, just as through one mansin entered into the world, and death throughsin, and so death spread to all men, because allsinned.

    Rom 5:15a: by the transgression of the onethe many died.

    Rom 5:18: through one transgression there

    Rom 3:23: for all have sinned and fall short ofthe glory of God.

    1 John 1:8-10: If we say that we have no sin,we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is notin us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful andrighteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanseus from all unrighteousness. If we say that wehave not sinned, we make Him a liar and Hisword is not in us.

    Rom 2:5-6: But because of your stubbornnessand unrepentant heart you are storing up wrathfor yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of

    the righteous judgment of God, who will renderto each person according to his deeds.

    Rev 21:8: But for the cowardly and unbelievingand abominable and murderers and immoral

    persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars,their part will be in the lake that burns with fireand brimstone, which is the second death.
