3.2 Log Data

3.2.1 Data logging As soon as the program is started and the configured MCTC’s are online, the Data logging is started. New log data is added to the log file when the machine is in production. For injection molding, each shot means a new entry in the log data. For extrusion a new entry is added to the log data at a fixed time interval (can be set in settings menu, see chapter Application settings) For each configured MCTC a log file is created. To avoid big sized log files, each day is started with a new log file (at midnight). Log files can be coupled to production order numbers, this number can used in the data log file name.

TC Name, MCTC IP, Date, Order no. The log data is by default saved in the Conair folder in the documents folder of your computer. This path can be changed in the settings menu.

3.2.2 Online – Offline In general MCLAN works in “ONLINE” mode. This means the program is connected to the MCTC’s configured and displays realtime data. To be able to analyze previous production data, it is possible to open data log files within the MCLAN program. To open files, click the menu dropdown button, select Open -> Open log data… Browse for your computer for the required file to open. A new MCLAN window will open in “OFFLINE” mode. You don’t need to have MCTC configured at machine level to be able to open a log data file.

3.2.3 Export data For further analysis the log data can be exported in a comma separated file, this can be used in programs like excel. Within the table view (chapter Table View) you can use the button to export the file.

11 MCLAN2 Manual

3.2.4 Microsoft Office Excel import The in the previous paragraph exported “CSV” file can be imported in for example Microsoft Office Excel for further analysis.

Start MS Office Excel and select File -> Open

Navigate to the folder where the MCLAN2

log files export has been saved to.

Change the file filter property to “All Files (*.*)”

The MCLAN2 log files will be displayed now

Select the file, and choose Open

An import wizard will be started, be sure the

option “Delimited” is checked.

Click Next >

Check the Delimiters option “Semicolon”

Click Finish The data will now be displayed on a MS Office excel worksheet and can be edited for further analysis.
