AAS Degree versus AS Degree versus AAOT Degree….?

• AAS Degrees are for technical or vocational majors• Technical and vocational majors are not generally found at

four year universities. For that reason, AAS Degrees are non-transferable.

• They are designed to make you work-ready in two years.

• AS and AAOT Degrees are for transfer majors, such as Computer Science, History, French, Engineering, Mathematics, Political Science, etc.

• They are NOT designed to make you work-ready in two years.

Career Pathways

• The CAS Career Pathway certificates are designed for students with little to no background in computer applications.

• The CIS Career Pathway certificates, however, were designed for the IT Professional with an IT background.• These are being terminated Fall 2015; replaced with advanced

certificates that need advisor approval.

If you don’t meet one or both of the above requirements, you will be placed into Academic Warning, Academic Probation or Academic Suspension
