Computer Information

Use your own login and password if possible.

To get a password, you must turn in the AUP sheet handed out at registration or sent home earlier this year in the mail.

Do not save to My Documents or the Desktop because those places are erased when the computer is logged out.

You can save to the Public drive or Terrier folder, but other users can see and alter the files.

PassKey program runs from the server and is available throughout the school. Students must use a login to access assignments given by their teacher.

Inspiration is an organizational program useful for English and Science. It is available only in labs B204 (small Media Center lab) and H104 & H102 Reading classrooms.

The Terrier folder is on the C: Drive of the local computer and is open for everyone to use. It is not erased by the Cleanslate program when you log out. IT IS NOT SECURE. Others can delete or change files saved here. On some machines, the My Documents folder is saved here, but in general – anything saved under My Documents will probably be erased.

Some Lab machines have a desktop folder for Educational Programs. These programs are on that machine, or link to a network or Internet program.

H: Drive Student Home Directory

If you log in with your own login ID and password, you will have access to a home directory on the Linux server under your name.

There will be a folder in this link with your login on it. If other students’ folders show up in this folder, just use yours. (The others won’t save).

This Home Directory will work on the computers with Windows XP or 2000.

Note: There is no home directory available if you log in with username student.

Use the public drive or the Terrier folder.

Before you print, check to see if the printer is correct.

Don’t just hit the printer icon – Use the File menu, Print

Use the dropdown arrow to select the correct printer for that lab.

Do not select the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer – it will not print from there.
