Who - University students are trying to save money. But our app isn’t just for young students, it’s for anyone trying to save money.

What - It saves money all round. It saves you money on your shopping as well as saving you money on the cost of fuel it will take you to get to your closest and cheapest supermarket.

When - The best time to use the app is at home, before going to the supermarket. When you are writing down your shopping list.

Where - This app can be used anywhere. It should be used before travelling to the supermarket.

Why - Supermarkets claim to be the cheapest around. But they can’t have the cheapest price for everyone’s shopping list.

Problem

A problem we all thought of was people constantly wanting to save money. We saw in the media that supermarkets were claiming to be cheaper than each other, but they can’t be the cheapest for every single customer. Another problem was many university students study in places they have never been before. So they don't know where their local supermarket it is and how cheap it is.

What is our USP (Unique Selling Point) ?

The question we chose to address was what was our unique selling point about our app. The first thing we had to consider was whether there was a similar app already in the market. Luckily there was no app with our idea, but we still needed something to make our app have a distinctive factor. After brainstorming we came up with new idea. The idea consists of having a GPS factor which locates the nearest and cheapest supermarket to your current location. This system also calculates the cost of fuel needed to get to your destination. This is obtained by filling in the details of your car eg. Whether it is diesel or petrol? or what the capacity of the engine is?

The problem was people wanting to save money, and ShopSmart does just that. We thought our app should be solving something that people face day to day. As we know the supermarket industry is massive, and food prices are constantly rising. Its the same with petrol and diesel prices, at this rate in a decade or two the prices will be through the roof. So we saw that Tesco claims to be cheaper than Asda, Asda claims to be cheaper than Sainsburys and it cheaper than Morrisons. And this was it our problem itself. Also we saw that our own family members were throwing good money down the drain by shopping at stores further away than their actual closest store. Again there is the problem. ShopSmart solves both these problems saving you money all round.

Hello, we are team SHWAY and we are developing an app to help two different target audiences; university student and middle aged wife or family men, but its not just for them, its for anyone trying to save money on their shopping list. The problem we solved was that supermarkets claim to be the cheapest around but we discovered that they can’t have the cheapest price for everyone’s shopping list. The great thing about our app is that it saves money all round. It saves you money on your shopping as well as saving you money on the cost of fuel it will take you to get to your closest and cheapest supermarket.

We have learnt that our users will engage into this app, and maybe pay the meager fee, if possible, as long as ShopSmart is a reliable app that we provide them with the right service making sure that we save them money and the user will be getting more than their money’s worth. They have also expressed that we should be progressive about directing our application towards them, by using feedback to make our app, higher quality, more desirable and more valuable. They are also putting dependence into us by presenting them with the legitimate prices and accurate information.

Our app is original and with media growing, supermarkets compete to see which is the cheapest. Some say that their shop is the cheapest but our app says 100 percent sure that it is the cheapest for everyone's shopping list. Our app has no competition with any other app, as no other app is trying to save you money on your shopping list . Another way to check price is to drive everywhere and check all the supermarkets, which is time consuming and expensive because of petrol being wasted. We have a GPS factor in our app, which locates the nearest and cheapest supermarket to your current location. Another great aspect of this system is it also calculates the cost of fuel needed to get to your destination. This is why our app is brilliant and the app to download.

The main features:

● One of the main features includes a scan function, which allows you to make a shopping list quicker.

● An original feature is that it saves you money on the cost of fuel it will take you to get to your closest and cheapest supermarket.

● The new list feature, helps to find you your

nearest and cheapest supermarket taking into account of your list of food.

● Another feature to save time is the history, this use, is looking at past shopping list and favoriting them to make a new shopping list.

We set up an email and twitter account, which will allow our users and other people to give us feedback on our app. Our customers feedback will be extremely important. The feedback will tell us if there are any bug problems, if the app is running slow and ideas to make our app look more presentable to everyone. We will then do our best to improve the app further, therefore make it better and easier to use for our customers.

Technical Feasibility

In this present era technology has developed immensely. This involves software and hardware. Our app needs to be able to connect to the internet. This means the mobile device has to have wifi or mobile network, working sufficiently to have the best service.The next criteria is the feasibility to access the GPS. Most mobile devices have location features, which when turned on, our app will be able to locate their location and calculate the distance to the nearest and cheapest supermarket.

Business Model

Our business model is a plan for our successful operation of our successful business. Our plan is to expand the acknowledgment of the app through the use of social networking. This will include Twitter and Facebook which are the first and second most popular social networking sites in the world today. We will not be only expanding the app, but we will also be getting feedback from users and viewers which will help better and develop the app. We have chosen this because 6.8 billion people have mobile devices.

The first 1000 people to download this app will be able to download it for free, after our first 1000 downloads the app will then cost 69p. The people who downloaded the app can review and rate our app, making more people interested in the app.Many view the holidays as very stressful time of the year e.g Christmas. For many people it is hard to find the perfect gift, which is not only cheap but thoughtful and also not too late and not too early to purchase. ShopSmart can deal with this type of problem. Making sure that you get that “perfect” gift for your family or friends. Not only holidays, but university students can use the app to save money on their shopping which will therefore help save money on their student loans etc. It will also help anyone trying to save money on their shopping list. We also have to make sure that our marketing scheme is relevant and eye catching to our target audience.

Extra InformationMany university students study in places they have never been before. So they don't know where their local supermarket it is and how cheap it is. We talked to a range of university students, and asked them if this app would help them. We explained to them, how the top supermarkets say that they have the cheapest prices on their products and that ShopSmart solves this problem, it tells you which supermarket is the nearest and cheapest depending on your shopping list.But not only that, ShopSmart finds the nearest supermarket as well. Therefore saving you money on your shopping as well as save you money on your petrol .They said this app will benefit massively. The university students said that this app may save them time and money on their shopping and would be very useful. We also created a twitter and Gmail account, in which we will be able to integrate our users and other peoples feedback on our app. This will help to make our app better.
