PRE-ANALYTICAL PHASE AND MEASUREMENTSamples of analyzed urine are placed into stands which are, thanks to the Clever Carriage Transport System, transported to the homogenization and dosing stepper pipettor. The device ensures an automatic homogenization of analyzed samples, their subsequent dosing onto diagnostic pads as well as exact compliance with the evaluation time schedule. The aforementioned arrangement guarantees a high level of accuracy of results as well as reproducibility of measurements.

OUTPUT OF RESULTSResults of measurements may be sent into the laboratory information system or they may be printed directly – using the built-in thermal printer. Handling of the printer related to paper exchanges is very simple.

CLEANING AND DISINFECTIONCleaning of the analyser is very fast and simple. As soon as the cleaning mode is started, the transport belts are put in motion, thus allowing for simple cleaning of urine residues. The dosing stepper pipettor is thoroughly cleaned (both inside and outside) using a cleaning solution. This allows for the absolute level of elimination of cross contamination amongst individual samples. Evaluated test strips are collected in a waste container. Should the maximum capacity of the container be reached, the LAURA XL Comfort analyser signalizes this information on its display automatically.

PRE-ANALYTICAL PHASESamples of analyzed urines are placed into stands which are, thanks to the Clever Carriage Transport System, transported to the homogenization and dosing pipettor. Subsequently, homogenization of the analyzed sample is performed automatically and 2.0 ml of homogenized native urine is collected for the purpose of analysis. Elements present in the analyzed sample are concentrated on the bottom of the cuvette without performing centrifugation, which might cause irreversible damage to analyzed elements, thus preventing their identification.

A special category comprises the so-called unclassified elements (UNCLS), for example deformed elements which may be, however, identified by the user individually.

EVALUATIONA series of 15 images, which are stored in the memory following performance of the measurement, is  available for each analyzed sample. Evaluation of  individual images is based on the principle of  neural networks, which allow for automated, accurate classification of individual elements as  well as their quantitative determination.

CLEANING AND DISINFECTIONFollowing completion of an analysis and evaluation of the analyzed sample, the whole system is  automatically rinsed using distilled water, resp. disinfection. The dosing pipettor is also thoroughly rinsed (both inside and outside) using the cleaning solution. This allows for the absolute level of  elimination of cross contamination amongst individual samples. An automatic disinfection of the dosing system is performed every time the LAURA XL Sediment analyser is switched on.

In comparison with the standard microscopy, the LAURA XL Sediment automatic analyser offers significant time savings as well as the possibility of archiving of images of analyzed urine.
