Welcome to our theatre. And, while we’re at it, welcome to one of our larger

classrooms.

This is the space where we put into practice what we have learned and taught

throughout the studios, shops, and classrooms of Dillingham Center for the

Performing Arts. For almost 100 years, thousands of students have participated

in theatrical productions at Ithaca College. Our shows serve as the practical

application of the theories, methods, and techniques that are taught in our

theatre arts classes. Every one of the many students involved with the show

you are about to see (each of whom is named in this program) is acquiring

valuable experience in the art and business of theatre. They are also earning

academic credit toward the fulfillment of their respective degree programs:

theatre studies, theatre arts management, theatrical production arts, acting,

or musical theatre.

Every day in our classes we strive to employ best practices in the art, craft,

business, and study of theatre. That way, our graduates will be ready to

contribute professionally to the theatre of the future just as soon as they

leave Dillingham Center. If you read the biography section of programs in

professional theatres across the country, you will often come across the names

of former students who are proud to declare themselves alumni of the Ithaca

College Department of Theatre Arts.

Whether you are a returning patron or a newcomer to our theatres, I want

to thank you for being a member of this audience. Your presence is both a

quintessential element of theatre and a touchstone for the accomplishment

of our student theatre practitioners.

Welcome to class!
