1 DESCRIPTION OF WORK: COMPONENT REPORT (C8.4.7) OF ONLINE DEMONSTRATION OF BUNDLED RESULTS FROM OTHER WORK PACKAGES
The following demonstration is designed to provide information in a bundled form on the results of
individual work packages of the project OpenUp!. The aim of this demonstration is to give an impression of
what has been achieved during the past three project years. That means, in particular, which (and how
much) content has been mobilized to Europeana, which technical developments have been realized and
implemented, and which outreach and dissemination activities have been conducted.
The online demonstration of this component is designed for the general public and other European project
communities as the main audience. Its PowerPoint presentation is divided into nine parts: The first part gives
an overview and introduction to the project work packages and OpenUp! Consortium; the following eight
parts are dedicated to a work package each, summarizing the description of work of each particular package
and displaying the results which have been achieved by work packages one to eight.
The OpenUp! online demonstration is downloadable freely from the OpenUp! website, public area,

o Intellectual property rights (IPR) framework established to advice existing and new content providers on IPR issues. Report on “IPR problems and solutions for the domain of natural history objects” to be completed by the end of the project.
o Memorandum of Understanding (available by end of project), designed for consortium partners and beyond to maintain and enrich EUROPEANA with Natural History content after the end of the project funding, to support strategic plan for the long term sustainability of the project’s infrastructure.

Addressing long‐term sustainability

It functions as a secure repository for data harvested and transformed from content providers while delivering the ESE Extensible Markup Language records that are to be harvested by Europeana through the OAI Provider

OAI-PMH Interface
o The OpenUp! harvesting component is used to harvest data on request from the distributed data repositories of the content providers and ingest data to the OpenUp! OAI provider
