Business ContextCompliance regulations for broadcast are defined by the region and specifically country of playout. While the themes of many of the regulations are similar worldwide, each territory has its own set of rules and regulations, often defined by cultural and social factors. For instance, a scene involving certain kinds of meat products is considered completely acceptable for playout in Europe, but not in the Middle East. Compliance regulatory bodies, such as OFCOM (UK), FCC (USA) or IBF (India), have different sets of parameters to determine what kind of content is acceptable for public viewing, and what is not. Often, completely different parts of the same film/TV show have to be deleted or modified in order to meet these requirements. To deliver content across a host of geographies and/or playout platforms, enterprises typically have to review and modify their assets multiple times and go through several rounds of checks on the edit table. This leads to huge inefficiencies in cost and time. Moreover, failure to comply with regulatory obligations can lead to legal exposure, heavy penalties and even license revocation.

CLEAR includes an extensive, built-in framework of parameters for all content scenarios considered objectionable by different regulatory bodies.
