Explanation of information requestedScouting Ireland seeks your personal information on the appropriate forms, with the express purpose of protecting young people within Scouting.

All information supplied to us is confidential and is kept in confidence. It will be used for no purposes other than determining your suitability to work with young people and for maintaining contact with you regarding scouting matters.

National Vetting Bureau/Access NI ChecksBy law, all applicants must undergo a National Vetting Bureau/Access NI check before commencing working with young people.

Adults who reside in the Republic of Ireland must undergo vetting by the National Vetting Bureau. The National Vetting Bureau eVetting Invitation Form must be submitted with your application.

Adults who reside in Northern Ireland must complete an Access NI Check. You can apply for an Access NI check online using the Scouting Ireland PIN which is available from the person approving your application.

Referees• Two referees are required.

Suitable responsible people might be Teacher, Clergy, Garda/PoliceOfficer, Peace Commissioner, Employer, Scouter.(Applicant should seek their consent before nominating them)

• Only one referee can be a Scouter.

• The person who signs the Approval cannot act as a Referee.

• Members of your family may not act as a Referee

• Each referee should be aware that they are referees and will becontacted in the future.

Guidelines for completing Vetting Invitation Form (NVB 1)

Please read the following guidelines before completing this form.

Miscellaneous

The Form must be completed in full using BLOCK CAPITALS and writing must be clear and legible.

The Form should be completed in ball point pen.

Photocopies will not be accepted.

All applicants will be required to provide documents to validate their identity.

If the applicant is under 18 years of age, a completed NVB 3 - Parent\Guardian Consent Form will be required. Please note that where the applicant is under 18 years of age the electronic correspondence will issue to the Parent\Guardian. This being the case, the applicant must provide their Parent\Guardian Email address on the NVB 1 form.

This form must be completed by the Scouter approving the Scouting Ireland Adult Membership Application (Group Leader, County Commissioner, Provincial Commissioner, National Team Leader)

Applicants for Vetting by the National Vetting Bureau must have their identity verified by the person approving their membership application. This is done by examining documents from the list overleaf. Each document carries a score and enough documentation must be produced to achieve a total score of 100.

Only the signed ID Verification Form needs to be returned to National Office. Copies of the ID DO NOT need to be returned to National Office.

At least one of these documents should be photographic identification.
