SUMMER CARNIVAL AT RAMOJI FILM CITY

http://www.cluburb.com/entertainment

Summer and outdoors rarely go together. Jumping into the pool is the only option that you can think of. Not any more! Coz, it''s carnival time in Ramoji Film City.

The carnival will be on till June 14th. Take a tour of the complex, stroll in their beautifully lit-up gardens or watch the fun shows. You have plenty of options to choose from.

If you''ve already seen RFC and would like to see just the carnival, the best time to arrive is at 4:00PM. There''s the usual tour bus to take you on a round of the film city and other hotspots. Make sure to get back by 5:30PM, because that''s when the fun starts!

The Eureka entertainment show keeps you laughing and entertained for a good couple of hours. Exotic Russian Dancers, Hoop Dancers and an interactive DJ make for an unforgettable experience. You will want to go on stage when the emcee calls you, coz he's handing out some neat gifts.

A huge red dragon at the end of the show just adds to the thrill; you''ll want to keep your camera clicking for this one. The dragon leads you to the gardens and leaves you to enjoy the ambience.

The gardens are lit up so beautifully they make you feel you''re in a movie set. You definitely want to hang around and check out the gardens.

And when the show ends at 9:00PM, you really don''t feel like leaving the place. But lucky for you, the carnival is around long enough. So you can go another day if you feel like it.

INTERVIEW: SKYHARBOR

http://www.cluburb.com/entertainment

For a band whose members are spread out across the globe, Skyharbor has reached a level in the music scene that no other has.

Comprising Daniel Tompkins, Keshav Dhar, Anup Sashtry, Devesh Dayal and Krishna Javeri, the band talks to Cluburb about their music from its evolution and its future plans. Excerpts.

C: "Math, science, history, unraveling the mysteries, that all started with the big bang...How did Skyharbor's journey begin?

SH: It began with an itch that needed to be scratched, and it happened in the form of a messy, disorganized Cubase file on my laptop. The equally messy results found their way on to the internet, and the rest is history.

C: If you had to break down your style for someone who has never heard your music before, how would you explain it?

SH : Emotional, groovy, expansive progressive rock.

C: There are bands that have fallen apart for many reasons, despite being in the same country. How does a band like yours, which has members from USA, India and UK work?SH : That's a good question. I think if we had tried to jump in to the rat race of the industry and try to keep up with the pace of chasing agents, managers, labels, etc – it would probably not have worked out due to the sheer impossibility of making the logistics work. We don't play many shows, and we don't try to conform to any standards. We do things our way, and if the industry wants to be on board, that's great. We just love making music, and that is our top and only real priority – everything else comes a very distant second.

C: What is your take on the current music scene in the country?SH : It's getting there, it will take a while but eventually with the amount of great talent coming through, it's only a matter of time before things pick up a lot quicker on the industry side of things.

C: Do you think being an academic musician versus a self-taught musician makes a difference to the kind of sound you produce? Which do you think works in favor of upcoming bands getting to where you are?SH : Regardless of whether you are taught or self taught, I think the important thing is to listen to a lot of different music, and keep an open mind and imbibe things from different styles. Being curious about discovering new music, being open minded about genres that are completely different from yours, are the key essentials to growing as songwriters and musicians.

C: How has the individual style of each member contributed to the final output of the band?SH : Hugely! Devesh has a very unique way of writing, you can tell his parts from the big choruses which have these hooky lead guitars running on top. Krishna's influence is pretty clear as well, the album on the whole is actually much more bass driven than guitar driven.

C: Do you think the band has evolved in terms of sound since you've started?SH : Absolutely.

C: Who are the bands biggest influences?SH : Deftones, Karnivool, Oceansize, Devin Townsend, Jakob, SigurRos, the list just goes on and on.

C: Where has your best performance been so far?SH : It's really hard to pick one, but either one of NH7 Pune, Download or Graspop (all in 2014).

C: What is the one factor that drives you to keep the band going? Any advice for underground newbies?SH : Just our collective love for writing music, don't ever forget why you began playing in the first place. Do it for the right reasons, whatever they may be.
