Alhamdulillah, all praises to Allah that we had the opportunity to write and finish the book entitled “Complementary Nursing Therapy: Herbal as a Therapeutic Approach for Chronic Disease in the Community”.

This book is especially written for nursing students who are still in the early stage of understanding the theories of complementary nursing before they implicate the soft skill and practical levels. Besides, this book also addresses any reader seeking more knowledge values related to the complementary nursing that might develop to gain analysis thinking from this book.

There are many information contained in this book that was written in detail and specific way. The content of the book was also reliable and up-to-date based on evidence regarding the complementary nursing skills, especially herbal approach, that can be implemented by nurses and learned by students in Indonesia. It also provides knowledge related to the development of specified complementary therapy based on herbal in medicine approach. Moreover, this book was also available in simple English which helps students enhance their English language capability to fully understand the book.

The readers should read each chapter of the book – from the beginning to the end of the chapter – aimed at understanding the theories of each chapter and the whole complete version of the book. The students should be able to understand, analyze, and complete the task properly in each chapter for better learning outcome.

In addition, this book is the very first edition and is the beginnning; hence, there might be some gaps. As the author, I am so genuinely respect and grateful if the readers would like to give some suggestions, and innovation idea related to the progress of this book to be more perfect in the future.

This book provides numerous pedagogical structures that are determined to assisst the students learning:1. Learning goals focus on the student aim to maximize in reading

and learning.2. The keyword introduces recent, medical, and special term that

will be maximized in this chapter – every term is defined within the text.

3. The implementation and demonstration of nursing process framework are presented in chapter 8. In addition, students might able to differentiate the numerous cases easily.

4. Case, discussion, and case exercise enhance the students’ further thinking to be deeper related to current issues and problem in the complementary nursing field.

5. The summary of each point in the section of chapter will help the students to study about the key essence of the materials.

6. The main map of the key word and essence information is also provided completely to help students get the easier learning process.
