Cloud Computing, a megatrend which has emerged over the past few years, in India is projected

to have a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 33.2% from 2012 through 2017, as per

Gartner, in contrast to overall Indian IT Industry growing at just 4.2% in the same period. This

trend has transformed IT to a utility industry, which provides IT solutions as a service over the

web instead of clients owing and buying the IT solutions per se.

Since a lot has already been spoken about cloud, this article will not cover any of the pros and

cons of cloud. However we will try to study the IT major service providers and their offerings.

Stakeholders in Cloud computing ecosystem:

The Cloud ecosystem has witnessed the evolution of different categories of players Cloud

Enablers are those which provide the technology infrastructure, platforms and middleware that

serves as the backbone for all cloud computing products and services (e.g. Cisco and VMware).

Cloud Service Vendors (CSVs) are those which provide actual cloud services like SaaS, PaaS,

and IaaS to customers, public cloud players (e.g. AWS and Rackspace), SaaS Players (e.g.

Salesforce). Service Providers uses the technology provided by cloud enablers to deliver

services like business consulting, cloud migration, and maintenance (e.g. Accenture, Infosys).

Most of the big Indian IT service providers fall into the 3rd category of stakeholders which is

Cloud Service Providers. Service Providers are also commonly called as System Integrators

System Integrators, through their design and consulting services, ensure that cloud

integration is seamless and customized to the specific requirements of the clients.



The ability to serve across the cloud spectrum enables system integrators to cater to clients

looking for a quick adoption route.

System Integrators proximity to enterprises also gives them an edge

Consult/Design Consulting services include readiness assessment, cloud adoption roadmap,

selection of cloud platform and infrastructure solutions

Build Development of cloud based infrastructure with feature to scale up and down and meet

unplanned workloads

Deploy/Migrate Creating a virtualized private environment generally on clients assets;

providers may host the private cloud on their own assets and may have branded offerings;

Migration to public clouds such as AWS and Rackspace

Manage Management of public, private or hybrid cloud environments including service

integration, orchestration, helpdesk services, etc

Conclusions:

HCL has most sought out services under the Cloud Assessment & Strategy and Cloud

Implementation & Migration categories, HCL also has a good performance under Cloud

Assurance & Management category though it doesnt offer a great range of services which is

being provided by TCS and WIPRO, it does has Cloud Service Management Platform which

is a unique and most advanced service under cloud management category.

Wipro has most well built Partnership network, followed by TCS and HCL. Partnerships with

MNCs, public cloud vendors and technology providers are very crucial for developing IT

services & solutions.

In terms of Cloud Solutions, Wipro stands at the top with its extensive list of cloud solution

offerings. However TCS and Infosys have developed some of the very advanced solutions like

TCS Bancs, iON and Infosys Edge. These are most exclusive solution offerings by TCS and

Infosys which provide them unique value proposition.
