Memorial Day Remembrances. Take a moment to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their nation. Over the Memorial Day weekend to visit a veteran's cemetery or the gravesites of veterans in your community cemetery. Give each family member a couple of flags or some small bouquets of flowers. Encourage each family member to place a flag or flowers near the grave markers of fallen service members. Adults will need to help small children place them respectfully. Note: There may be family members at the gravesites over Memorial Day weekend. Remember to honor their space and time at the grave of their loved one. Before you get back in your car, gather and pray aloud: Gracious God we remember and give thanks for the men and women who died in war so that everyone in our nation might live in freedom. Thank you for the prom-ise of new life that you give to all through the death and resurrection of your Son, Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen.

Pentecost celebration. Many thanks to all those who helped with our Pentecost celebration on Sunday. The music was outstanding. The decorations were stupen-dous. The liturgy was joyous and meaningful. The reflec-tion by Tony was informative. The Aztec dancing was moving. And the food was terrific. A special thanks to Sr Phyllis for coordinating the liturgy, and to the Multicultural Committee for organizing the entire event. See more pic-tures at www.stcharlespdx.org/news/pentecost-2018.

Graduate Blessing. We plan to bless all graduates on Sunday, June 3. If you are graduating this year — from Middle School, High School, College, Graduate School, or beyond — please call the Parish Office (503-281-6461) and give us your name and graduation level. Please plan to attend Mass on June 3, and we will give you a special blessing.

Joint Mass with Eritrean Community. Mark your calen-dar and plan to join us on June 10 for the second annual joint mass with the Eritrean community. Special songs, readings in Tigrinya, a bit of dancing, and great food. See you June 10 at 10:00 am.
