You can see how our use of colour is a
generic convention used within Caro’s
metanarrative. Both stills have the use of
red in an item of clothing, with a
largely white coloured
background to contrast the red.
Although our use of black isn’t as
apparent in this still, it still shows clear
aspects of conformity.
A clear convention that we conform to is the use of voyeurism. In both stills the focus
is placed onto Caro, with her being centre framed. Emphasis is
placed on her clothing too, by making her
clothing a third colour that isn’t in the frame,
e.g there is only red from her dress in ours,
and only black from her dress in hers.
Our use of bright/pale lighting shows clear links between Caro’s video. For this line of action we increased the brightness levels to create a more dream like/airy state. This is similar in Caro’s video,
where it is also quite bright, clean and airy, with the emphasis placed on the person in the scene and not on the location behind her.
We consistently build upon her metanarrative through our use of costume and makeup. In both stills you can clearly see the use of a statement red lipstick, as well as a period style dress; this helps progress her
metanarrative as a period stylised singer, and also help define her brand image.
