Here’s one interesting fact:
Wind energy is actually a
form of solar energy.
![Page 28: Comparing Wind Power and Other Renewable Energy Sources](https://reader038.vdocuments.us/reader038/viewer/2022103111/54bfc3ca4a79591c3b8b4652/html5/thumbnails/28.jpg)

Here’s one interesting fact:
Wind energy is actually a
form of solar energy.(uhuh)
That’s because winds are actually caused by the uneven heating of the atmosphere from
the sun.
This creates low-pressure and high-
pressure areas, which cause air to move.
![Page 30: Comparing Wind Power and Other Renewable Energy Sources](https://reader038.vdocuments.us/reader038/viewer/2022103111/54bfc3ca4a79591c3b8b4652/html5/thumbnails/30.jpg)
Anyways,Everyone knows that the main energy source of every organism in the world is the
SUN.
![Page 31: Comparing Wind Power and Other Renewable Energy Sources](https://reader038.vdocuments.us/reader038/viewer/2022103111/54bfc3ca4a79591c3b8b4652/html5/thumbnails/31.jpg)
It doesn’t mean it’s better for
power generation though.
![Page 32: Comparing Wind Power and Other Renewable Energy Sources](https://reader038.vdocuments.us/reader038/viewer/2022103111/54bfc3ca4a79591c3b8b4652/html5/thumbnails/32.jpg)

The sun’s gone.

Solar panels don’t work at night.
![Page 36: Comparing Wind Power and Other Renewable Energy Sources](https://reader038.vdocuments.us/reader038/viewer/2022103111/54bfc3ca4a79591c3b8b4652/html5/thumbnails/36.jpg)
Wind turbines, on the other hand, work whenever as long as there’s wind.
![Page 37: Comparing Wind Power and Other Renewable Energy Sources](https://reader038.vdocuments.us/reader038/viewer/2022103111/54bfc3ca4a79591c3b8b4652/html5/thumbnails/37.jpg)

So these guys are still gonna work even
after the SUN comes down.

• Can generate electricity ANYTIME unlike solar panels which only work at daytime.• Nearly all countries have
a windy area. Few countries have continually sunny areas though.• Wind turbines look
cooler than solar panels. (I think)• Solar power costs nearly
twice more per KWh than wind power.
‘coz:
And the winner
is…WIND
![Page 41: Comparing Wind Power and Other Renewable Energy Sources](https://reader038.vdocuments.us/reader038/viewer/2022103111/54bfc3ca4a79591c3b8b4652/html5/thumbnails/41.jpg)

BIOMASS
It’s usually
created from
farm crops, such
as corn
and soybean.

generate
different
forms of
energy,
such as
heat,
electricity
and fuel.
It’s usually

![Page 47: Comparing Wind Power and Other Renewable Energy Sources](https://reader038.vdocuments.us/reader038/viewer/2022103111/54bfc3ca4a79591c3b8b4652/html5/thumbnails/47.jpg)
There’s one problem
though…Converting biomass to other
forms of energy involves
![Page 48: Comparing Wind Power and Other Renewable Energy Sources](https://reader038.vdocuments.us/reader038/viewer/2022103111/54bfc3ca4a79591c3b8b4652/html5/thumbnails/48.jpg)
BURNING.
![Page 49: Comparing Wind Power and Other Renewable Energy Sources](https://reader038.vdocuments.us/reader038/viewer/2022103111/54bfc3ca4a79591c3b8b4652/html5/thumbnails/49.jpg)
BURNING.
Which produces greenhouse gases in the process, such as
CO (carbon monoxide) and CO2 (carbon
dioxide), that contribute to global
warming.
![Page 50: Comparing Wind Power and Other Renewable Energy Sources](https://reader038.vdocuments.us/reader038/viewer/2022103111/54bfc3ca4a79591c3b8b4652/html5/thumbnails/50.jpg)
On the other hand,
![Page 51: Comparing Wind Power and Other Renewable Energy Sources](https://reader038.vdocuments.us/reader038/viewer/2022103111/54bfc3ca4a79591c3b8b4652/html5/thumbnails/51.jpg)
WIND TURBINES
![Page 52: Comparing Wind Power and Other Renewable Energy Sources](https://reader038.vdocuments.us/reader038/viewer/2022103111/54bfc3ca4a79591c3b8b4652/html5/thumbnails/52.jpg)
WIND TURBINES have virtually
ZERO greenhouse gas emissions.
![Page 53: Comparing Wind Power and Other Renewable Energy Sources](https://reader038.vdocuments.us/reader038/viewer/2022103111/54bfc3ca4a79591c3b8b4652/html5/thumbnails/53.jpg)
‘coz:
And the winner
is…• Does NOT produce
greenhouse gas emissions during conversion, unlike with biomass.• Can ‘pay off’ the
energy spent for its manufacture in 4-5 months of generation, whilst harvesting biomass crops often takes more energy than can be produced with it.
WIND
(again)
![Page 54: Comparing Wind Power and Other Renewable Energy Sources](https://reader038.vdocuments.us/reader038/viewer/2022103111/54bfc3ca4a79591c3b8b4652/html5/thumbnails/54.jpg)

gases during production.

Dams also have a variety of uses, such as flood control, making
hydropower development doubly useful.

It also helps prevent global warming since
it does not emit any greenhouse
gases.
![Page 65: Comparing Wind Power and Other Renewable Energy Sources](https://reader038.vdocuments.us/reader038/viewer/2022103111/54bfc3ca4a79591c3b8b4652/html5/thumbnails/65.jpg)

‘coz:
The winner is…• Currently the most widely-
used renewable energy resource. Wind energy is catching up though, and it wouldn’t be long until it takes the top spot. Add the fact that it’s really hard to site a good location for a dam.• Incredibly efficient if sited
correctly. It’s also more reliable since water flow is almost always constant unlike wind, which is unpredictable.

You can’t just put up a geothermal plant anywhere though.

the best sites,

Places near
tectonic plate
boundaries are
the best sites, (which aren’t really that many in the
world.)

Siting a wind turbine location is a lot more forgiving.

Siting a wind turbine location is a lot more forgiving. There are a LOT more windy areas in the world than
tectonic plate boundaries.

‘coz:
And the winner
is…• Does NOT produce
greenhouse gas emissions during conversion, unlike with biomass.• Can ‘pay off’ the
energy spent for its manufacture in 4-5 months of generation, whilst harvesting biomass crops often takes more energy than can be produced with it.
WIND

So, yeah.
WINDOTHERS

Renewable Energy
Scoreboard
Wind was able to PWN all
the renewable energy
technologies except for
hydropower.

Wind Power’s renewable
energy market growth is
considerably higher than
Hydropower’s though. It wouldn’t be long (like, maybe 50 years?) before wind becomes the most widely-used renewable energy resource since
there are more feasible wind turbine locations than hydropower dam locations.
