CONTENTS FIRST IN INNOVATION AND QUALITY

Bringing comfort and industrial solutions to homes

and businesses while respecting the increased

concern for the environment, demands the highest

levels of innovation and quality. To our credit belong

industry revolutions such as VRV® and inverter control,

technologies that continue to translate themselves

into new levels of efficiency and comfort. We are also

the only equipment manufacturer in the industry to

be involved in developing better refrigerants that are

safer for our environment.

WORLDWIDE PRESENCE

Having the best technology attracts the best

distributors and dealers. Thus in addition to a

guaranteed technical edge, we can count on a highly

developed sales network. We continually nourish our

relationships with distributors and dealers, which

sometimes results in acquisitions as affiliates, but

always in a win-win partnership.

FOUR PILLARS OF GROWTH

Total comfort and service to home and industry

demands a complete product range. We are committed

to the continuing development of the four pillars of our

offerings: heating, air conditioning, applied systems

and refrigeration. All of our offerings in these areas

benefit from the same technological excellence and

attention to quality that have marked Daikin products

from the beginning.

EXPANDED PRODUCT RANGE

Daikin completed the acquisition of OYL Industries Bhd.,

a world player in the HVAC-R market with major brands

such as McQuay, AAF International and J&E Hall.

In addition to strengthening and expanding our product

range in areas such as refrigeration and ventilation,

and allowing us to offer a complete line of applied

solutions, this takeover gives us increased presence

in important world markets.

A FUTURE WITH A PAST

We at Daikin Europe N.V. are proud to have been a

part of major developments that have revolutionised

the industry and continue to determine the course of

progress. Daikin is able to look back on a history of

innovation: from the first packaged air conditioners

and heat pumps in the 1950s, to the first multi-split

systems in the 1960s, to the introduction of VRV® in

1982 and its continued development since. We have

also been at the forefront of ultra-efficient inverter

technology as well as the development of safer

refrigerants. Using our core technologies as basis,

we are able to produce innovative and energy-saving

solutions for a range of markets and applications.

Our latest innovation, AlthermaTM, represents a real

breakthrough in the heating market, and puts us on

the world map of energy-efficient heat pump based

heating systems.

This indisputably rich culture of innovation together

with a worldwide organisation second to none, give

credence to our ambition to being number one in the

world in total comfort solutions.

…ON THE BACK OF

TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION

Developed by Daikin Europe N.V. specifically for the

European market, AlthermaTM places our long history

of 50 years of experience perfecting heat pump

technology at the forefront of the search for more

efficient and more environmentally conscious home

heating. It is quite simply the most energy efficient

home heating solution on the market today.

Conveni-pack is another unique product that integrates

many Daikin technologies such as VRV®, inverter

control and heat recovery into a total heating, cooling

and refrigeration solution for convenience stores.

In 2006, Conveni-pack was named Environmental

Product of the Year at the Cooling Industry Awards

event held in London.

Already in the early days of the industry, Daikin was

responsible for pioneering innovations as Japan’s first

rotary compressor and Japan’s first packaged heat

pump. In the 1960s we came out with the first Japa-

nese multi split unit. And we revolutionised the indus-

try in 1982 with an industry first: the introduction of

Variable Refrigerant Technology (VRV®), a technology

that continues to be the basis for ongoing innovation

in the comfort sector.

Our top of line residential system and another world

first, Ururu Sarara, ingeniously combines temperature

and humidity control with air purification in one total

comfort package. It is one of the industry’s most effi-

cient products. Thus it is no surprise that Ururu Sarara won a number of awards in 2006: in Japan (Home

Environmental Equipment Prize), Italy (Heating,

Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, and Refrigeration Tech-

nology Innovation Award, and France (Eneo d’Or Award).

INDUSTRY AWARDS …

SUSTAINABLE COMFORT SOLUTIONS

The way forward is clear: the integration of the Best

Environmental Available Technologies and corporate

responsibility with the continued improvement and

expansion of the four pillars of our total solution

offerings. This requires us to develop and market

heating and cooling systems that are even more

energy efficient, use no toxic chemical substances and

reduce harmful emissions throughout all phases of

product life, from design, through manufacturing and

installation, to end-of-life take-back and responsible

recycling and disposal.

This means maintaining quality and our accent on

R&D, including research into new refrigerants and

eco-design. Aggressive environmental targets have

been included in our Fusion 10, 5-year strategic plan:

these cover reduced CO2 emissions, reduced leakage

of refrigerant, a green procurement policy including

incentives for our suppliers to follow our lead, less

waste in manufacturing and the most efficient use

of energy.

PEOPLE MATTER

Meeting our future challenges also requires recruiting,

developing and retaining the best people. To this end

our plans for the future include further development

of Daikin’s “people oriented management.” With

people come relationships, and Daikin’s Core Values

ensure that the bar is always high: absolute credibility,

enterprising management and harmonious personal

relations.

Absolute credibility means commitments based

on trust with our customers, colleagues, business

partners and local communities. Enterprising

management is a commitment to build our company

through the initiative and excellence of all of our

employees. Harmonious personal relations commits

us to a working environment in which all work

together to meet Daikin’s goals and challenges.

FACTS & FIGURESOUR CORE BUSINESS:

HEAT PUMPS & AIR CONDITIONERS

Since we began producing heat pumps and air conditioners

in the 1950’s, our climate control solutions have grown to

include commercial, industrial and domestic applications,

including ultra-efficient residential heating systems.

Daikin does it all. We are the only air conditioning manu-

facturer to also produce refrigerants and compressors -

the lifeblood and heart of every air conditioning and heat

pump system - allowing us to ensure the highest possible

quality of the total solution. We are also proud to be at

the forefront of efforts to produce safer and less harmful

refrigerants.

In addition to our core business, Daikin also produces

fluorocoating materials (protective films for solar panels,

Zeffle, Teflon… ), oil hydraulics equipment (pumps, motors,

valves... ) electronic systems (CAD-CAM and computer

graphics systems… )

TURNOVER & MANPOWER

DAIKIN EUROPE N.V. PRODUCT RANGE

Daikin offers a broad range of products and solutions for

industrial, commercial and residential use. Our product

line is structured around four major pillars: heating, air

conditioning, applied systems, and refrigeration.

EXTRACTING NATURE’S HEAT FROM THE AIR

The AlthermaTM air-to-water heat pump system offers

an improvement over traditional systems with respect

to energy efficiency and CO2 emissions, while providing

comfortable heating even in the heart of winter. A small

installation footprint and compatibility with existing

systems and solar cells make the package a very

attractive alternative for new constructions as well as for

renovations.

THE MOST EFFICIENT COMFORT COOLING SYSTEMS

ON THE MARKET

Heat pumps have an inherent advantage when it comes

to energy consumption. When combined with other

Daikin technologies such as inverter control (dynamically

adjusting compressor speed to match building demand),

VRV® (variable refrigerant volume) and heat recovery,

they are one of the most promising forms of home comfort

for the future.

LARGEST CHILLER RANGE IN THE INDUSTRY

Daikin applied systems have proven both flexible

and reliable in providing chilled or heating water for

applications as varied as fish farming, wine processing,

agriculture, pharmaceuticals, food production, as well as

comfort cooling in event halls, large apartment blocks,

hotels and offices. We offer the most complete range of

applied systems in the industry: from 2 MW systems down

to a chiller suitable for residential needs.

TOTAL REFRIGERATION SOLUTIONS FOR BUSINESS

In addition to traditional applications such as marine

container refrigeration, Daikin also offers total solutions

for specific sectors, such as Conveni-pack for the food

retail business: an award-winning, remarkable blend of

VRV®, inverter control, heat recovery and fan technology

that offers optimum efficiency, installation ease and

noise control. Conveni-pack provides efficiency increases

of up to 60% during winter months and 20% during the

summer months, with yearly average savings of up to 50%

depending on regional climate.

AIR PURIFICATION

MCK75J

Page 22: Company_Brochure_tcm10-280

Clean indoor air in a portable package

Contemporary homes and buildings are highly insulated, leading to

a limited exchange of outdoor air with indoor air. As a result, the air we

breathe indoors can be more polluted than outdoor air, and this stale

indoor air can aggravate the symptoms of allergy and asthma sufferers.

A quality air purification system is the answer.

Air purification is an integral part of many of Daikin’s high-end climate

control solutions. This expertise is also available in a dedicated high-end

room air purifier, the MC707. Our compact MC707 employs an 7-layer

filtering system to remove 99.9% of all allergens, viruses and bacteria while

deodorising indoor air. The MC707 also features advanced control that

supports a number of modes, including whisper quiet 16dBA operation,

negative ion creation, anti-pollen mode, turbo mode for quickly cleaning a

room when conditions suddenly change, and an auto mode that senses the

air quality and adjusts its actions accordingly.

In addition to pollutants, indoor air can also be excessively dry, especially

in winter. The Ururu Air Purifier (MCK75J) moisturizes the air inside your

home and relieves the effects of dry air. Just fill the 4l tank occasionally

and it will humidify your room with a maximum of 600ml/h. This useful and

innovative function stems from the incorporation of a slim line water tank

and combined water wheel and vaporisation filter assembly.

Extracting solar heat from the air

AlthermaTM is our ideal alternative to traditional fossil-fuel based heating

systems. At its heart is a heat pump that is the result of Daikin’s 80 years

of experience. Because heat pumps extract solar energy from the ambient

air, AlthermaTM is able to offer significantly higher efficiency than any

conventional heating system: from 3 to 5 times higher!

AlthermaTM consists of a small footprint outdoor unit – the air-to-water

heat pump – coupled to an indoor unit that requires no special installation

space. This indoor unit converts the energy of the heat pump into heated

(and optionally cooled) water that can be pumped through conventional

underfloor heating elements and high efficiency radiators. Add fan coil units

for cooling and you have an ultra-efficient total comfort solution, capable of

handling any climate. In addition, an optional boiler can be added to provide

domestic hot water.

This system is easy to install, requires no special digging or drilling, and

can even be installed in flats. AlthermaTM can also be combined with existing

heating systems and other alternative renewable heat sources. It is the ideal

system to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions while providing

maximum comfort, even in the heart of winter.

4 air treatment techniques in 1 system

At the heart of our residential systems is our efficient heat-pump technology

coupled to innovations such as inverter control and advanced control systems.

The result is extremely efficient comfort and state of the art climate control.

Our residential split systems offer quiet, efficient outdoor units coupled

with a range of indoor units – wall mounted, floor standing, and ceiling

mount in both concealed and cassette models – to match any comfort, need

and interior. Systems offering heat pump mode provide both heating and

cooling. Split models are available for a single room and multi-split models

for multiple rooms.

Our top of the line Ururu Sarara takes our technology to new levels with

the ability to create unique room climates at the touch of a button: a skin-

friendly “hydration” mode, a “cooling breeze”, a “comfort sleep” mode and

even a “mould shock” mode for preventing mould formation. Its combina-

tion of temperature control, humidity control and air purification make it the

absolute best in residential comfort.

Our strict technological requirements also include the environmental per-

formance of our products. Testifying to our seriousness and professionalism

in addressing this challenge, many of our units have attained the demanding

European Energy Label “A” classification for reduced energy use and CO2

emissions.

AIR CONDITIONINGSky Air + Roundflow:

Page 28: Company_Brochure_tcm10-280

Daikin’s Sky Air solution

Daikin’s Sky Air solution for commercial spaces such as offices, shops,

restaurants and hotels has just been made better with the introduction of the

Roundflow cassette. Available in many sizes and in thin-body and high-COP

variants, our 360-degree Roundflow provides uniform airflow and temperature

distribution, with lower air velocities and less draughts.

Its main benefits: reduced temperature differential across the conditioned

space, ensuring optimum thermal comfort and energy savings, with some of

the highest COPs in the industry.

In addition to 360-degree operation, Roundflow also supports 4-way, 3-way and

2-way flow patterns. This flexibility combined with its light weight and minimum

depth makes for Roundflow’s easy installation in a broad range of applications.

To top it off, incorporation of humidity sensors in the cassettes results in

improved control of our Sky Air system. All our Roundflow models also offer

standard connection to our intelligent control systems (Intelligent Touch

Controller, Intelligent Manager) as well as third-party building management

systems.

The industry leader keeps getting better

VRV® is Daikin’s comfort solution for large commercial buildings. Introduced to

the industry in 1982, VRV® – or variable refrigerant volume – revolutionised the

industry. Where the systems of the time used water or air to conduct heating

and cooling energy throughout buildings, refrigerant was now used for this

task. The result: a phenomenal increase in efficiency and the birth of a new era

in comfort solutions for the entire industry.

The product was so successful that competitors have been scrambling to

catch up ever since. We, however, continue to stay ahead of the field. Since its

introduction, VRV® has increased in size and efficiency. It can support ever taller

buildings, is available in a water-cooled version, and now supports heat recovery

for the greatest possible efficiency. Models are available in cooling only, heat

pump, heat recovery versions, and VRV® supports a wide range of indoor units.

Page 32: Company_Brochure_tcm10-280

The industry’s first residential chiller

Precise climate control is vital to many commercial and large industrial

applications. Our applied systems have proven both flexible and reliable in

providing chilled or heating water for applications as varied as fish farming,

wine and cellar cooling, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, food production and

many other industrial and process requirements.

For comfort cooling, Daikin’s residential chillers are used in event halls,

large apartment blocks, hotels, offices, etc. And we offer the world’s first

inverter controlled chiller for residential use.

Daikin is the fourth largest supplier of air-cooled and water-cooled chillers with

a full range of applied systems on offer, serving the most diverse applications.

The recent acquisition of OYL and its subsidiary McQuay highlight our

commitment to this market, allowing us to offer the most extensive offering in

the industry: systems ranging from 5 kW to 2 MW.

REFRIGERATION

Page 34: Company_Brochure_tcm10-280

Integrated refrigeration,

cooling and heat recovery

Applying or combining its state of the art technologies to come up with total

solutions: that is what Daikin is about. Food retailing environments have

conflicting energy needs. Some products need to be frozen, others cooled,

while the ambient temperature of the shop itself must be kept comfortable for

customers. In the past, this resulted in the use of multiple systems working

independently, with inefficiency and increased CO2 emissions as a result. To say

nothing of the clutter of equipment with the associated noise problems.

With Conveni-pack, Daikin has combined its renowned VRV® technology, scroll

compressor technology and optimum fan and grill design with heat recovery

operation, making it the optimum total system for convenience store and

petrol station operators. Optimum system integration results in stable indoor

temperatures, efficient operation and reduced operating costs and emissions.

At the heart of Conveni-pack is the recovery of heat from the refrigeration and

cooling cabinets to be used to heat the shop area. Thus, energy that would

otherwise be wasted is recuperated.

Conveni-pack’s modular construction makes it suitable for any size of

installation. The quiet outdoor units are compact and support long piping

runs, resulting in optimum installation flexibility. Moreover, Conveni-pack

is compatible with standard third-party refrigeration cabinets, unit coolers

and controls. And its use of multiple compressors combined with optimum

control, mean not only the most efficient solution in function of demand, but

redundancy in the case of failure.

HRV indoor units

Proper ventilation is a key component of climate control in buildings, offices and

shops. In its basic function, it ensures a flow of incoming fresh air and outgoing

stale air. Our HRV (heat reclaim ventilation) solution can do much more. It can

recover heat and optimise the balance between indoor and outdoor temperature

and humidity, thus reducing the load on the system and increasing efficiency.

Outdoor air processing in a single unit

Our FXMQ-MFV1 air processing solution uses heat pump technology to combine

fresh air treatment and air conditioning in a single system, thereby eliminating

the usual design problems associated with balancing air supply and discharge.

Total system cost is reduced and design flexibility enhanced because the air

conditioning fan coil units and an outdoor air treatment unit can be connected

to the same refrigerant line.

Our HRV and FXMQ-MFV1 ventilation units can be easily integrated into a total

system via Daikin or third-party climate control and building management

systems for optimum comfort and efficiency.

VRV® air handling applications

For medium and large commercial spaces, we offer a range of R-410A inverter

condensing units that provide air handling and air conditioning. This approach

combines the flexibility of our VRV® units with Air Handling Applications,

resulting in a simple, reliable design for optimum control of indoor air quality

and maximum efficiency.

Page 37: Company_Brochure_tcm10-280

INNOVATOR IN ENERGY

EFFICIENCY AND REDUCED

EMISSIONS

Page 38: Company_Brochure_tcm10-280

INTEGRATING TECHNOLOGIES

Heat pumps, the heart of air conditioning technology,

have an inherent advantage when it comes to energy

consumption. They extract solar energy from the

ambient air, thereby reducing the primary fuel

consumption (electricity) needed to cool and heat.

We combine this core technology with other Daikin

innovations such as inverter control (dynamically

adjusting compressor speed in function of actual system

demand), VRV® (variable refrigerant volume) and heat

recovery to create the most efficient home comfort

and industrial climate control solutions on the market.

19

DESIGNING FOR THE FUTURE

All products are designed with the environment in

mind: the safest possible materials are used, and

the safe handling of critical components such as

refrigerants is built into our systems and procedures.

Proper recovery or recycling of all components at end

of life is designed in from the beginning. Moreover,

Daikin is continuously engaged in the search for ever-

safer refrigerants.

Daikin is a market leader in this integration of advanced

technologies into total solutions. Our Ururu Sarara

total residential solution – a package that provides

the residential market with optimum temperature

and humidity control as well as air purification – has

won awards in Europe and Japan for its significant

energy savings and reduction of waste at end of life.

Our AlthermaTM heating systems bring the range

of Daikin technologies to bear on the home heating

market, producing 3-5 kWs of heat for every 1 kW of

electricity used. And our VRV® systems – the industry

standard for large buildings – consume less energy

than comparable systems and continue to lead the

way with innovations such as heat recovery.

Daikin is keenly aware of its responsibility to the

environment and is firmly committed to providing

homes, businesses and industry with the most efficient

and safest products to meet their cooling and heating

needs, today and in the future.
