Peter Doran Lawn &
Landscape
I started mowing lawns at 13 but it didn’t become a serious business until I was 15 and my Grandfather gave me an old riding mower. I knocked on every door within the radius that my “rider” could travel offering to cut their grass. One women that hired me was worried that I was too scrawny to do the job. But, she is still a customer today.
When I turned 16 I got my first truck and was able to expand my business beyond my own neighborhood.
My early customers stuck with me because I was committed to doing what I said I’d do - when I said I’d do it. If it rained on a scheduled mowing day, I new that meant I would be giving up my weekend plans to get the job done.
Today, customers stick with us for the same reason and I try to instill that same commitment in my crews.

OUR STAFF SIZE RANGES FROM ABOUT 10 – 25 DEPENDING ON THE SEASON. WE PULL IN THE LARGEST CREWS WHEN IT SNOWS. EVERYONE GETS A SHOVEL THEN!
WE SEND OUT OUR SNOW REMOVAL CONTRACTS IN OCTOBER ALONG WITH FALL CLEAN UP WORK NOTICES?
We Work Year Round and like to Play Year Round.
This is our snow shovel guillotine – effective for
keeping employees in line.
THE YARDWhen “The Yard” is empty - that’s good. It means all the trucks are out working.
We also keep supplies in this area.
We send summer contract renewals out in April to lock in summer work.
Today we have 12 working trucks
And a few “spare parts” vehicles
We’ve grown and changed in many ways since my first
riding mower.
And so have I…
I still love to cut grass but I’m not working for spending money any more.
Today there is so much more. For me and for my crews.
