    CHAPTER I

    History

    In 1958, Frank and Dan Carney had an idea for a great local pizza restaurant in Wichita

    Kansas. The small 25 seat restaurant only had room for 9 letters on the sign the building

    looked like a hut so 'Pizza Hut' was born!

    Fifteen years later, they opened the first UK restaurant and since then we've become the

    biggest Pizza Company on the planet!

    2011 their chefs chopped, stretched, tasted, floured and cheesed their way through the

    pizza universe to create our Best Ever Pizzas, with new dough, sauce and toppings.

    We also decided to offer unlimited trips to our world famous Salad Station for free

    with every meal.

    2010 Pizza Hut UK raised over 150,000 for the World Food Programme, a United

    Nations charity who support the fight against hunger across the world.

    2009 they launched our Kids Eat Free offer - a free two-course Kids Meal or Kids

    Lunchtime Buffet with every adult main course purchased. Pizza Hut was voted Best

    Family Restaurant in the Tommy's Let's Get Baby Friendly Awards.

    2008 they bought Godfather's Pizza in Ireland with 28 stores. We also launched our

    Pepperoni Stuffed Crust & Garlic Crust pizzas, larger 4 for ALL and a new range of

    Tuscani pastas in the UK.

    2007 they brought out our Thick n Thin Pizza and began to re-franchise our dine-in

    restaurants.

    2006 Whitbread sold their share of the joint venture to Yum! Brands Inc. Pizza Hut

    UK Ltd was now 100% owned by Yum! Cheesy Bites was launched! There were now

    697 restaurants in the UK, with 154 stores as a franchise owned by 61 franchisees.

    2005 The 4forALL was launched. Over 600 restaurants were open in the UK, 70 of

    them as Franchise units.

    2004 Pizza Hut launched The Big New Yorker.

    2003 500 restaurants were now open throughout the UK, employing over 20,000

    people.

    2002 Tricon Global became YUM! Brands Inc. The Quad Pizza was launched in the

    UK, as Pizza Hut opens its 500th restaurant. A & W and Long John Silver's join the

    Yum brand.

    In Indonesia, Pizza Hut was opened its first restaurant in 1984 in Djakarta Theatre Building,

    Thamrin, Jakarta. By year 2000, the first Pizza Hut restaurant was moved to Cakrawala

    Building, but still in the same area, until now. Now, Pizza Hut has more than 200 restaurants

    in 22 provinces in Indonesia, from Aceh to Abepura.

    Concept And Format

    Pizza Hut is split into several different restaurant formats; the original family-style dine-inlocations; store front delivery and carry-out locations; and hybrid locations that offer carry-

    out, delivery, and dine-in options. Many full-size Pizza Hut locations offer lun ch buffet , with

    "all-you-can-eat " pizza, salad, bread sticks, and a special pasta. Additionally, Pizza Hut also

    has a number of other business concepts that are different from the store type; Pizza Hut

    "Bistro" locations are "Red Roofs" which offer an expanded menu and slightly more upscale

    options.

    "Pizza Hut Express " and " The Hut " locations are fast food restaurants. They offer a limited

    menu with many products not found at traditional Pizza Huts. These type of stores are often

    paired in a colocated location with a sibling brand such as WingStreet, KFC or Taco Bell, and

    are also found on college campuses, food courts, theme parks, and in stores such as Target

    and Walmart.

    Vintage "Red Roof" locations can be found throughout the United States, and quite a few

    exist in the UK and Australia, and Mxico. Even so, many such locations offer delivery/carryout service. This building style was common in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

    The name "Red Roof" is somewhat anachronistic now, since many locations have brown

    roofs. Dozens of "Red Roofs" have closed or been relocated/rebuilt. Many "Red Roof"

    branches have beer if not a full bar, music from a jukebox, and sometimes an arcade. In the

    mid 1980s, the company moved into other successful formats including delivery/carryout and

    price for 2 or 4 people. And build cooperation in promotion in the media through the

    advertisement on TV, poster or newspaper or by tweets on Twitter and Facebook (twitter in

    @pizzahut and on Facebook : Pizza Hut Indonesia) or via their blog (www.pizzahut.co.id).

    One way of promotion from Pizza Hut the other is using the Pizza Hut brand ambassador,
