Since its founding in 1915, Japan Radio Co., Ltd. (JRC) has responded to the diverse needs of customers by providing products and systems that utilize wireless technology.
Recently, the global community has been grappling with a variety of increasingly serious problems on a worldwide scale, including extreme variability in climate, global warming due to rising CO2 emissions, and expanding social welfare expenses caused by aging societies. Meanwhile, rapid changes in information technology (IT) have led us into a period of major changes that have an impact on a range of aspects, including industrial structure and business models.
Currently, the JRC Group is supporting data sensing and information transmission performed via the Internet of Things (IoT) by strategically expanding the already wide range of applications for wireless technology. Furthermore, we are striving to create value using the data we have gleaned using the latest information technology.
The ability to solve problems using technology is coded into the DNA of the JRC Group. Moving forward, we will continue to do our part to facilitate the resolution of societal issues and provide value to our customers in accordance with our management philosophy: “We, JRC Group shall deliver excellent value and contribute to a bright future for people, society and the world through wisdom and creativity.”
We humbly request your continued input and support as we move forward.

Since its foundation, JRC has continued creating products at the leading edge. Based on technologies and know-how amassed over more than a century, we have deepened our core technological expertise in such areas as antennas, signal processors, amps, and networks. In the communications field, which has advanced significantly in recent years, we help build a prosperous
society by providing solution-based services that meet the sophisticated needs of society. JRC’s R&D mission is to foster the creation of a better society by connecting people, things, and communities. We tackle R&D challenges so that we can contribute to safety and peace of mind in the world.
In 1990, JRC released the world’s first GPS
receiver for automobile navigation use. In 2015, we
sold around 5 million units. In addition to the
United States (GPS), we offer positioning systems
for various other nations/regions, notably Russia
(GLONASS), Europe (Galileo), China (BeiDou), and
Japan (QZSS). We will continue targeting top-level
performance by achieving centimeter-level
positioning accuracy.
In the overcrowded waters occupied by solid-state
radar, we expect interference of marine vessel
radar to increase significantly. JRC has achieved
excellent interference removal performance
through frequency channel switching and
environmental adaptation functions. We also
succeeded in eliminating interference from
solid-state radar from more than 400 vessels
under difficult conditions employing false signals.
Research and Development
JRC uses rigorous quality control and stringent reliability and evaluation testing across all phases of its products and systems—development, design, manufacture, and installation—in order to foster safety and peace of mind for
customers. We also implement the plan-do-check-act (PDCA) cycle in an effort to offer products that satisfy customers.

Scanning electron microscope
Test samples are irradiated with an electron beam to obtain images with several hundred thousand-fold resolution for detailed surface analysis.
X-ray fluorescence spectrometer
This spectrometer can identify the elements from the fluorescence spectrum generated by irradiating a sample with X-rays.
Temperature and humidity testing chamber
Independently controls the temperature and humidity of the chamber and evaluates the environmental durability of devices.
Electromagnetic shield room
This room system can make electro magnetic compatibility (EMC) test and antenna patternmeasurement.
Thermal shock tester
This tester evaluates the reliability of products by subjecting it to repeated stress to determine differences in thermal elasticity when exposed to rapid changes of high and low temperatures.
Quality Assurance InitiativesJRC received an ISO 9001 quality management system (QMS) certification in 1994 and made the switch to the new 2015 standards in 2017. In 2018, JRC also received certifications in JIS Q 9100, which are QMSs for specific industrial sectors. Using these QMSs as a base, we are building systems and mechanisms for quality assurance. JRC is securing optimal quality in all business areas from mass-produced products for private markets, such as its PHS terminals, to its marine systems which can endure installation in unique environments. We are also responding to diverse customer needs for a wide variety of products through our weather radars, which are made to customer specifications, and our dam control systems.

As an outdoor point-to-point communication
application using the 40GHz band, JRC has
deployed same-send-receive frequency and
simultaneous transmission to double the frequency
utilization rate and thus achieve a real two-way
transmission speed of 2Gbps. Going forward, we
will combine this with 60GHz-band technologies in
an effort to deliver a high-speed transmission
services, including 10Gbps downloads.
