midwife or other health care provider while you are pregnant. Prenatal care will help you and your provider monitor your pregnancy.

What is prenatal care?Prenatal care is the care you

receive from a doctor, midwife or other health care provider while you are pregnant. Prenatal care will help you and your provider monitor your pregnancy.

Does It Matter When I Begin My Care? YES, you should begin as early as the first trimester or as soon as you find out you are pregnant.

What can I expect from my prenatal care? Information about: Your baby’s growth. Your health or any new medical conditions.Childbirth education and breastfeeding classes. The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program.

How can I choose a provider? You may select your own OB provider. Being referred

by your primary care provider is not necessary. If your primary care provider offers prenatal care and

delivery services, you may use this provider only or select a separate OB provider.

Ask your provider where the baby will be delivered. Choose your provider early in your pregnancy. If you

have any questions call the SoonerCare Helpline at 1-800-987-7767 from 8 am – 5 pm, Monday – Friday

or 1-800-757-5979 TDD.

What are my SoonerCare benefits?You will not have to pay a co-payment for any

prenatal care services. You may receive: Limited preventive dental care Lab work and some tests. Office visits, hospitalization and baby’s delivery. All medically necessary prescriptions if you are

younger than 21; up to six prescriptions and prenatal vitamins if you are 21 or older. Free rides to pre-scheduled appointments.
