Motivational Thoughts By: Mr. Donnell Gibson

Hello Educational Family, We’re all part of a process that helps our students succeed; however our definitions of succeeding and success may not be the same. As educators we tend to use words for their literal and superficial meanings. We sometimes forget that they can have deep roots that make them strong enough to branch out and continue to grow. Today I’d like you to ask your students if they think there’s a difference between the meanings of the words success and succeeding. Before you ask them, ask yourselves this same question. As you think about your answer I challenge you to think about what success and succeeding might look like to them. Ask them for an example of each word and how they’ll know if they are succeeding or have reached success. An example may be that we often think of a student’s success in terms of grades. The fact of the matter is that students who succeed in class will have achieved a level of success that doesn’t necessarily align with the literal meaning of these two words. Now, has your definition of succeed and success remained the same? Has theirs changed? We’re here to help expand the way our succeeding students see success. “Success is only a word until you replace it with your name.” - MR. D

Congratulations to our Lady Cougars who with a 66 to 63 win over South High School (Mpls) walked away as winner of the Twin Cities Conference Championship! Go Lady Cougars...you make us proud! We also extend a huge thanks to their coaches; Coach Lex, Coach La Toya and Coach Brian for their leadership!

The athletic department “cougar closet” has been stocked with new items! There are also new items available to order. Go to our school website, athletic page and click on the left sidebar for the photo gallery. Let either Nate Galloway, our AD, or myself, the athletic superclerk, know if you would like to purchase/order any of the pieces.
