Students and parents are encouraged to attend this event to meet the teachers and unpack all of their new school supplies. In addition, there will be an informational meeting in the library at 5:30 pm for all students in 3 rd grade and all new students in 4 th grade. During this meeting, we will be introducing and highlighting information about our one to one Google Chromebook initiative, as well as providing information on accessing Teacherease and Google Classroom. A great way for parents to stay involved with the school is through the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)! This group helps the students of Harding Grade School in a vast variety of ways from helping provide academic programs to hosting community events. This organization is truly one of the greatest assets to our school. I encourage you to take the opportunity to join the group and help make Harding Grade School a better place for each and every student! The first meeting for the school year will be on Monday, September 10 th starting at 7:00 pm in the library. We hope to see you there! This year we will again be offering the breakfast program. Breakfast will begin at 7:45 am in the cafeteria. In addition, each school day will begin at 8:05 am and will conclude at 3:05 pm. When students arrive at school, they will either go to the cafeteria for breakfast or go to the gym and wait on the bleachers with their respective grade levels until they are dismissed to their classrooms. Students being dropped off in the morning may start arriving at 7:45 am. Drop off and pick up will be at the west gym door before and after school. Students being dropped off after 8:05 am may enter at the south office door. There are several great ways to stay in touch with Harding Grade School! All parents are automatically enrolled to receive text messages from the school through Remindä. Quarterly Report Cards: All quarterly report cards will be available online via Teacherease and/or sent home four school days following the end of the grading period (Q4 on the last day of attendance). If you do not have access to Teacherease, please contact the school office. Progress Reports: Teachers will send home progress reports approximately half way through each grading period for select students as deemed appropriate by the classroom teacher. School Day: Drop off and breakfast begins each day starting at 7:45 am. The regular school day begins at 8:05 am and dismisses at 3:05 pm.

District Information Serena Community Unit School District No. 2 was formed in the fall of 1977 when the elementary school districts located in Wedron, Harding, Sheridan, and Serena consolidated with the then Serena High School District. The District is located just 70 miles southwest of Chicago, Illinois and covers 124 square miles. Currently, the District is comprised of two elementary schools (K-4) located in Harding and Sheridan, and a middle school (5-8) and high school (9-12) located in Serena. Serena Community Unit School District No. 2 has a proud tradition of academic and athletic excellence and is an integral part of the communities in which it serves.
