New warehouseNoxonFor many years Noxon Stainless B.V. has been one
of the leading wholesalers for stainless steel
materials in the Netherlands. On October 20th
2006 the company celebrated the official opening
of their new premises. After the Alderman of
Economic Affairs of the town of Helmond, Mr. S.H.
Yeyden, had held his opening speech the visitors
got the chance to visit the new warehouses to get
an impression of the large and wide assortment of
products that Noxon supplies. During the
following party everyone could enjoy several
delicious dishes and drinks, which made it easier
to expend relationships. The climax of the event
was reached when Edsilia Rombley, a famous
Dutch singer, closed the evening with a glamorous
stage act.

Valve World magazineValve World magazine is a leading international
magazine on valves, actuators and associated
products with a worldwide distribution. The magazine
is published eight times per year. The editorial
content is strongly focused on end-user experiences
and practical applications. Apart from technical
articles on valve design, fluid control, sealing
technology, actuation etc. topical issues, such as
fugitive emission control, maintenance & repair, high
temperature & high pressure applications, abrasive
service and standardization are covered as well.
Fast deliveries from Truflo RonaTruflo Rona confirms its reputation of a “fast-delivery cryogenic valve manufacturer” with its new contract
with TEC, Toyo Engineering Corporation, for the Petronet Dahej Expansion project. Toyo Engineering
purchased a series of 24” and 16” Class 900# Top Entry Cryogenic Ball valves to be delivered in short time
for the expansion of Dahej LNG Terminal, India.
On this quality driven market where the delivery is key factor, Truflo Rona did anticipate the growth by
purchasing new machineries and equipments in order to expand its production capacity. Thanks to this
important production increase Truflo Rona is able to remain close to the reality of the market. With this
order, Truflo Rona confirms its leading position on the Asian market.
Shanghai is the largest, most prosperous economic and trade center of China, the ideal venue for Valve World Asia.
Biggest contract for KSB in 135 yearsThe KSB Group has received an order for valves amounting to roughly EUR 17 million. This is the largest
order exclusively for valves the German pumps and valves manufacturer has ever secured. The contract
covers 215 butterfly valves with diameters from 1.5 to 3.5 metres. The valves are intended for one of the
biggest seawater cooling plants in the world, which is being built in the industrial city of Ras Laffan in
Qatar. Once completed, the plant will have a capacity of 860,000 cubic metres per hour. The seawater
handled is required for cooling processes in a gas liquefaction and several petrochemical plants, as well as
in a seawater desalination plant. Years ago, KSB valves were also supplied for the first unit of the plant,
where they have proven their worth under arduous conditions, coping with high flow velocities and an
aggressive fluid. Reason enough for the owner to turn to the KSB Group again for the second extension
phase. KSB received the order to supply the required valves in just under 12 months.
Transmark Fcx buys coach for schoolBradford, UK, based industrial valve distributor Transmark Fcx
Limited has provided Bradford Secondary PRU school with a 16
seat coach. The school which caters for children with social,
emotional or behavioural needs will use the coach to take pupils
on educational visits as well as recreational day trips. British actor
Duncan Preston handed over the keys to the coach to the school's
head teacher, Elaine Collins, together with Transmark Fcx Chief
Executive, Neil Wagstaff. Eddie Gray, the ex-Leeds United player,
also attended the presentation ceremony which was held at the school. The purchase of the vehicle was
funded through Transmark Fcx's charitable donations to The Variety Club of Great Britain's Sunshine Coach
Appeal and it is the second coach in two years which the company have funded for a local school.

Valve World 2006: An event to rememberThe Valve World 2006 Conference & Expo, which
was held from November 7-9 2006 in Maastricht,
The Netherlands attracted a record number of
attendees. From day one the registration desk
greeted hundreds of delegates and visitors alike and
from the beginning the conference sessions were
enthusiastically attended by representatives from a
broad cross section of the valve industry. The expo
floor had been extended to accommodate even more
exhibitors, around 400, and in the new Valve World
Lunch area, delegates, exhibitors and visitors from
across the globe were made to feel comfortable and
relaxed in pleasant surroundings. This year there
was also a noticeable increase in attendance from
exhibiting companies from India and the Far East
who were greeted with a new stand that was set up
to provide provide help and support to Chinese and
Korean speaking visitors. The conference dinner held
at La Butte Aux Bois, Lanaken, Belgium was a great
success. The food served represented cuisine from
around the world and was, of course, first class.
Below, a brief pictorial impression of the event.
There will be an extensive retrospect on the Valve
World Conference & Expo in the February issue of
Valve World magazine. This will include in-depth
coverage of the workshops, paper sessions, master
class and the exhibition.

Focus on Nuclear Power GenerationIn 2003, KCI Publishing, publishing house of
Stainless Steel World, Valve World and Pump
Engineer, decided it was time to expand into the
nuclear power generation market. We felt there
was something “in the air,” and we wanted to be
there and report on it. Not everyone was
convinced that we were doing the right thing.
Nuclear power was a thing of the past many
said….
Fast forward to 2006 and what a different world
we live in today! After issuing a request for
editorial contributions for this issue, articles and
papers have been pouring in steadily, leaving us
with a nice selection to choose from. The result is
a magazine that, we hope, once again is of
significant interest to materials and flow control
professionals involved in nuclear power
generation worldwide.
It seems we were right in 2003 when we decided
to move into the nuclear field, so much in fact that
we have decided to “up” production. Beginning in
2007, we will expand to two issues of Focus on
Nuclear Power Generation per year, with the next
issue scheduled for publication in April.
To order a copy of Focus on Nuclear Power
Generation 2006, or to advertise in any of the
upcoming issues, please contact Mrs. Ladan

Ares valves improvewave fountainAres Angle seat valves have been selected for
improving the Long Beach Wave Fountain in
California because of their high cycle-life,
durability and reliability, and compact
assembly. These 2/2-way pneumatically
actuated piston valves were originally
designed for liquids, gases, steam and some
aggressive fluids applications. The valve body
and internal components are made entirely of
AISI 316 SS (Ares Series) and the seals are in
PTFE, enabling a high chemical compatibility
with almost all media used in different
production processes. The valve is also
available in Brass & 316 SS (Zeus Series).
The special internal conformation of the valve
seat avoids excessive deformation of the
PTFE seal at high temperature or pressure.
Emerson honoredwith TechnologyLeadership AwardFrost & Sullivan has selected Emerson
Process Management as the recipient of a
2006 Technology Leadership Award for the
company's introduction and continuing
development of Micro Motion Coriolis
advanced flow and density measurement
technology. Since introducing the first
practical Coriolis metering devices in 1977,
Emerson has further developed the
technology and installed over 500,000 Micro
Motion Coriolis devices in a vast array of
applications around the world. Due to its
accuracy and ability to measure flow and
density with a single device, the impact of
Coriolis technology is great across diverse
sectors where measurement accuracy is
critical, such as the custody transfer of LNG
and compressed natural gas (CNG), as well
as in other oil and gas industries. "In
recognition of the company's pioneering
efforts and long-standing leadership in the
development of Coriolis measurement
technology, we presents this Award to
Emerson Process Management," said Frost &
Sullivan Research Analyst Miriam Nagel. “We
are honored to be recognized for Coriolis
technology," said John Berra, president of
Emerson Process Management. "It is
gratifying that our pioneering of this
technology in the 70's and the development
that we continue today is expanding the use
of this innovative measurement approach."
Each year Frost & Sullivan presents this
Award to a company that has pioneered the
development and introduction of an
innovative technology that has either
impacted or has the potential to impact
several market sectors.
Kumkang openssecond factoryEver since the company was founded in 1980,
Kumkang valve manufacturing company have
invested heavily in modern equipment for the
design and manufacture of valves. Its "in-
house" foundry and manufacturing plant is
continuously guided by a rigorous Quality
Assurance program and Statistical Process
Control procedures. Its engineering
department is constantly striving to achieve
even greater goals of product performance by
implementation of emerging materials in
plastics, elastomers, coatings and metallurgy.
The result of these investments and hard
work, a combination of 26 years of experience
and up to date know-how, provide you with
high-quality casting valves. KUKA has now
added forged valves to its production range as
well. On October 20th, 2006, the company
officially opened its second factory in Daegu,
Korea, five minutes from its headquarters,
covering a gross area of 6600 m2.
Adipec 2006: Meeting place of the oil and gas community
From November 5-8, 2006 Jan Dieperink and
Derek Stoner of Valve World attended the Abu
Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and
Conference (ADIPEC), the meeting place of the
international oil and gas community. The theme for
2006 was 'Meeting the Increasing Oil and Gas
Demand through Innovation.' More than 20,000
visitors attended the event and had the opportunity
to meet over 1200 companies exhibiting from
around the world, including the world's leading
manufacturers and suppliers, visit the country
pavilions to see what's happening worldwide and
see the latest technologies and services available
to the industry. Quite a few Valve World readers
dropped by our stand for a quick chat, to pick up a
copy of one of our publications or learn more about
upcoming events. Many new and useful contacts
were established in Abu Dhabi as well.
Help us improve our news serviceValve World's James Chater shares some tips on
how media professionals can help the Valve World
editorial staff to disseminate the news quickly and
efficiently, reaching the widest possible audience:
• The news we place on our website and in our
magazines is placed free of charge. It should
therefore be genuine news, for example new
products or applications, an upcoming project or
a significant order, an acquisition, a new
appointment or a prize.
• Come straight to the point: Initial sentences
should be short and simple and summarize what
follows. Remember that press releases are read
by busy people.
• All essential information should be contained in
the body of the text, not just in the title as this
may be altered or shortened for lay-out reasons.
• Write as simple as possible, avoiding clichés.
Again, remember that press releases are read by
busy people.
• Avoid parochialisms: Not everyone will know
that Hereford is a county in the UK, or that New
Mexico is a state in the USA.
• Avoid over-use of capitals as they create the
impression that the reader is being SHOUTED AT,
which is rather tiring and typographically ugly.
• With regard to frequency: little and often is
better than nothing for months then all at once.
Companies that unleash their press releases in
one go and then fall silent for months run the
risk that only one press release per batch will
actually get published.
• Send your press releases by e-mail, not fax or
mail as retyping a press release is simply not an
option any more. For this purpose, make sure
that the format you use is one that we can easily
extract the text from, so preferably no pdf files.
• Be sure to include contact details in case we
have any further questions.
• Add a date your press releases. This may seem
obvious but you would be surprised to see how
many press releases we receive that do not have
a date, which makes it impossible for us to tell if
the news is still “news” indeed.
• Think carefully about the size of your e-mails.
Anything over 3MB is difficult to handle. Take
care when sending zip files - these can contain
infected files. Also, self-extracting files are
automatically deleted by our system.
• Photos should be .jpg or .tiff files, with a
minimum resolution of 300 dpi. An alternative is
to enclose a link to a high-resolution photo on a
website.
As always, we look forward to receiving your press
releases of, ideally, 150-200 words at:

Buyers' Guide and ApplicationGuide: A powerful combination!Presenting your company in the Valve World
Buyers' Guide section of Valve World magazine
(the “yellow pages”) is a cost-effective way of
advertising in the magazine. Your entry is printed
in every issue of the magazine for one year. As a
member of the Buyers' Guide, your listing is also
included in the Valve World Phone Directory, which
is printed in each issue of the magazine, and in
the Buyers' Guide section of the Valve World
Annual Procurement Report, a reference guide
dedicated to procurement issues in the field of
flow control technology. Furthermore, you will
receive a discount on your subscription to Valve
World magazine, a complimentary copy of the
Valve World Annual Procurement Report and a
50% discount on a subscription to the online
Valve World Cyber Guide: An extensive and easy-
to-use on-line database of valves and related
products that can be accessed via the Valve World
website: www.valve-world.net. You may also opt
to subscribe to the Buyers' Guide for a period of
two or three years at a further discount.
In addition to your listing in the Buyers' Guide,
why not opt for inclusion in the Valve World
Application Guide (the “green pages”) as well? In
this section of Valve World magazine, a
straightforward bullet point system indicates
which companies supply valves for specific
applications. Users can then refer to the Buyers'
Guide for contact details of the company in
question. As such, the Application Guide is a
valuable addition to the
Buyers' Guide.

In this section, we usually publish unusual valve-related photos or photos of
Valve World magazine spotted in unusual locations. However, this time, we
wanted to share with you a snapshot taken by one of our editors one
autumn evening as we were all about to head home after a busy day. It
shows the town of Zutphen, where our main office is based, at sunset, as
seen from the editorial office. With views like these, isn't it a miracle that we
get any work done at all?
AUMA actuators aidautomation of Azorestank farmAUMA has supplied actuators and gearboxes
to a BP Tank Farm on São Miquel in the
Azores. Previously, the traditional tank farm
had been almost entirely manually operated
and the introduction of AUMA actuation
technology formed part of a scheme to
modernise the site. The project included
retrofitting existing ball vales with electric
actuators and a complete automation system
(control system) was specified. A digital open
bus protocol solution was also supplied to
replace traditional hard wired systems. Key
requirements, which were met by AUMA
products, were for a robust, modular actuator
solution that would be easy to adapt to the
future requirements of the farm. Due to the
site's remote location, it was also important
the actuators were intuitive to use making it
easy for the operators to control the system.
FCTP launchedFieldbus Foundation has introduced the
Foundation Certified Training Program (FCTP),
an effort to establish uniform standards for
the fieldbus training curriculum and define
acceptable levels of learning for students of
the technology. The initiative is designed to
allow end-users to gain access to highly
skilled employees possessing a strong
knowledge of Foundation technology
principles; a consistent understanding of
fieldbus fundamentals, regardless of
geographical location; and a proven ability to
implement fieldbus-based control systems.
Students will be able to identify colleges,
universities, and other educational facilities
offering a certified Foundation training
curriculum. After graduating, they will be able
to market themselves as having an FCTP
certificate to potential employers. Educational
institutions will gain recognition as Fieldbus
Foundation-certified training sites providing
FCTP certification and will be listed on the
foundation's Web site. Certified instructors
will be audited to see if they have achieved
specified Fieldbus Foundation training goals.
Instructors must demonstrate expertise in
areas such as Human-Machine Interface tools,
fieldbus troubleshooting, simple device
configuration, and device deployment and
functionality across a fieldbus network.
