    Rainshadow Community Guidelines

    Rainshadow Community adopted a model ofbehavior we refer to as TERMS.

    When you choose to attend our school, youare also agreeing to our TERMS.

    TERMS stand for: Trust, Equality, Respect,Maturity and that equals Success!

    Practicing this everyday will help you really behere and help you better enjoy your stay!

    enforce the guidelines.

    Other Suggestions on Being Here

    Treat others with respect.

    Follow classroom rules and do assigned work.

    Support your school community.

    Walk in the building and be safe.

    Keep your hands, feet, and other objects to yourself.

    Show appreciation for, and be courteous to, all groups/guestspresenting programs or participating in athletic events in our school.

    Closed Campus To provide a supervised, safe and orderly

    environment, Rainshadow has established aclosed campus.

    You are asked to remain on campus until the endof the school day unless you have writtenauthorization from a parent(s)/guardian and/or received permission from us to leave for aspecified purpose.

    You can choose to leave campus withoutauthorization and be classified as truant andsubject to disciplinary action.

    Closed Campus - Plus Side

    You only do this four days a week rather thanfive like many other schools.

    You get a wonderful, free lunch or you canbring your own and we will hold it in arefrigerator.

    You can participate socially with your friendsat lunch.

    Smoking, Drugs and Alcohol

    It is a violation of Nevada State Law andRainshadow rules to smoke on school property, tobring alcohol or other drugs to school or to be

    under the influence of drugs or alcohol at school.

    Steve will be happy to visit with you while he doesthe paperwork to either have you arrested and/or

    sent home suspended or expelled depending onthe violation.

    Yep, we are serious about this.

    Dress CodeWhat you wear is a reflection of who you are!

    The following clothing choices are not acceptable atRainshadow:

    Bare-midriffs, skin needs to be covered. Mini-skirts,spaghetti straps, tube tops and short shorts are notacceptable.

    Any clothing, bandanas, gloves, accessory or symbolicapparel believed to be affiliated with gangs.

    Any clothing that refers to obscenities, pornography,violence, alcohol, drugs and/or contain unacceptablelanguage or images.

    Underwear is under wear, please keep it covered.

    Dress CodeWhat you wear is a reflection of who you are!

    Sagging or tight pants that show underwear.

    Sunglasses, unless verifiable medical reasons

    exist, i.e. prescription. Hooded sweatshirts are allowed as long as the

    hood is down inside the school.

    Dress for success!

    Dismissing Students

    The teacher, not the clock, dismisses class.

    In the interest of campus management and

    uniformity, students are not to be dismissedfrom class prior to the end of the period.

    You never get time back.

    Be in class and make the most of your time.

    Bicycles and Skate Boards

    Bicycles must be locked up outside in the rackprovided; you must provide your own lock.

    Skate Boards are not allowed in the building;please leave them at home.

    Any skate boards brought to school will belocked up for the day through the front office.

    There is no skating allowed on school propertyand our neighbors ask the same courtesy.

    Student Vehicles

    You must register your vehicle with the frontoffice and obtain a parking permit sticker.

    You must present registration, valid driver'slicense and proof of insurance.

    Parking in an unauthorized place may lead to

    your vehicle being towed at your expense.

    Food and Drinks

    You may bring clear water bottles, with water only, into class, but please keep it away fromcomputers.

    Any edible material will be consumed in thedesignated eating areas only at assigned times.

    Please plan ahead!

    Eat in the morning before class and at lunch; soyou can more completely benefit from being inclass.

    Public Displays of Affection(PDA)

    We support love and romance, just not here!(Its a High School)

    We do not support hugging, kissing, handholding and other displays of affection here atschool.

    Keep some space between people.

    Cell Phones Cell phones or pagers need be turned off and put away so

    they are not visible during class times unless working asassigned by your current teacher.

    If you cant resist using your phone, turn it off and turn it into your teacher at the beginning of class.

    If you use your phone, your teacher will respectfully ask for it.

    You may refuse to give up your property, but you will besuspended for insubordination.

    Dont take the risk! Turn it off

    MP3 Players, iPods, or other Music Players

    Music players may be used at breaks, lunch or as assigned by your current teacher.

    Earphones need to be out of your ears in classduring any discussion, instruction or other classroom activity that requires hearing.

    You are responsible to do this at all timeswithout being reminded and/or askedrepeatedly.

    Graffiti and Other Formsof Defacing Property

    Writing, drawing, scratching, painting ondesks, walls, mirrors or other school propertyis considered vandalism and is unacceptable.

    Even though it may seem cool to you, it stealsthe respect and dignity of the other students.

    All graffiti is photographed and sent to thepolice and will be dealt with as a criminal issue.

    Valuables at School

    Purses, wallets, money, phones, iPods or other valuables are your responsibility.

    Unfortunately not all people are honest andtrustworthy and some people will steal your stuff.

    Leave your valuables at home or keep them withyou at all times.

    If lost, RCCHS is not responsible nor can we try tofind and recover your property.

    Passes When you leave the classroom, you need to sign

    out and have a pass.

    Your time will be monitored when out of class ona pass.

    No more than one student will be allowed out ona pass at a time from each class.

    Again, please plan ahead. Use the restroom before school and at lunch if at

    all possible.

    Front Office, Doors and Phone

    After 8 AM, you need to enter the buildingthrough the main entrance only.

    All other doors in the building are to be used asemergency exits only.

    You may use the front office phone withpermission from Rainshadow staff for

    parent/guardian contact only. Excessive use or abuse of the phone will result in

    loss of phone privileges.

    Visitors and Guests

    All visitors to Rainshadow must check with andsign in at the main office.

    All visits must be arranged in advance (24 hour minimum) with the administration.

    We are a public school and do not have people

    dropping in whenever.

    Video and Audio Recording

    There is video recording inside and outside thebuilding and also audio recording in some areas toprovide a safer environment for your education.

    Our servers save over a month of recorded history. We use the recording as a learning process for

    teachers and staff.

    We may share our recording with parents or police asthe need arises.

    Your activity is monitored daily through the camerasas well as walk throughs by administrators.

    Choice School

    Various legal rulings have stated that schoolsneed not tolerate dress, speech, or any actionsthat impede the educational process of others,even though the government may not censor similar items outside the school. (In other words, some of your Constitutional Rightsstop when you enter the school doors.)

    We are a great school working to becomeeven better, and you are a big part of thatgrowth.

    Moving to Close

    We do understand that we are not the solution for everyone.

    If you would like to go some where else, please letus know, and we will help you and your parentswith a referral.

    Remember we are a choice school and you do not

    have to attend here. But if this is your choice school, we welcome you

    We think of you as an adult and know you arevery competent, capable, responsible and ableto read for yourself.
