Community Engagement is not an exercise in public relations
It is a collaborative process aimed atreaching a shared understanding of preferred solutions to identified key
community needs and priorities
What Is:
• In 2007, the RVS Board of Trustees acted on their belief that school/community partnerships are important.• Policy allows schools and school jurisdiction to be
accessible to the public• Policy allows schools and school jurisdiction to be
open and transparent• Policy allows schools and school jurisdiction to have
input into decision making• Guidelines are developed and speak to the public
engagement model
Why?
• As a result of Inspiring Education (encouraged school boards to do more community engagement)
• RVS is reviewing its model• RVS had guidelines and is currently developing
a policy around this topic• This is a great time to go to stakeholders for
input
