About UsNew Mexico State University Carlsbad Community Education serves as the center for lifelong learning by providing educational training and personal enrichment opportunities for businesses and students of all ages. Community Education plays a major role in community service and outreach for NMSU Carlsbad. Enjoy short-term, non-credit classes designed to develop new skills and interests. Our instructors include retired and working professionals, NMSU faculty members, and small business owners.

Spring Office HoursMonday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm NMSU Carlsbad is closed every weekend and the following holidays during this term: Martin Luther King Holiday (January 20th), Spring Break (March 23-27), Spring Holiday (April 10th), and Memorial Day (May 25th).

How to RegisterThank you for your interest in NMSU Carlsbad Community Education. It is easy and convenient to register, simply choose the option that is easiest for you.

• Register in person at our office: NMSU Carlsbad, Room 112 (President’s Office).

• Call our office at (575) 234-9214 or (575) 234-9212 and register over the phone.

• Registration forms may downloaded, completed, and emailed to [email protected] or mailed to Community Education, 1500 University Drive, Carlsbad, NM 88220.

• Payments can be made in the NMSU Carlsbad, Business Office, Rm. 108, or by calling 234-9200 for credit/debit card payment.

Refund PolicyYour payment, minus a $10.00 cancellation fee, will be refunded if you provide a request to cancel in person, via phone, or email five business days prior to the first day of class. Refund requests can be made directly to the Community Education office or sent to [email protected] . Refunds may take up to 30 days to be processed. If a student cannot attend, a substitute may be appointed. A full (100%) refund will be given only for classes that are cancelled by NMSU Carlsbad Community Education. Please note that refunds cannot be issued for online courses through Ed2Go or Gatlin. This policy applies to all registrations, regardless of payment method.

Soccer SkillsAges 4-8Get ready to learn the fundamentals and skills of soccer and have a great time in a fun and encouraging environment! Each session is filled with a variety of activities to promote correct soccer techniques including: small-sided games to encourage personal involvement and enhance the understanding of team concepts; technical and ball mastery skills sessions; shooting drills; and much more. Clay Creations! Ages 8-14Students will enjoy hands-on clay activities over a one-week Spring Break camp and take home or pick up their finished pieces the following week. Master the art of applying lighting and color corrections and learn how to correct lens distortions that will enhance your photos. YogaAges 18 & upVinyasa yoga is a flowing, dynamic sequence of poses. This type of practice involves synchronizing the breath with a continuous flow of postures. Students will coordinate

Natural Child BirthThis class promotes child birth as being a normal, natural, and healthy process. The goal of this class is to build a mother’s confidence in her ability to give birth, through the presentation of classes that help pregnant women understand how to cope with pain in ways that both facilitate labor and promote comfort, including relaxation techniques, movement and massage. Citizenship WorkshopAges 16 & UpBecome a U.S. citizen and be aware of the benefits and responsibilities. U.S. citizens enjoy many benefits including having a U.S. Passport, the right to vote, freedom to travel, the right to run for public office and sponsor close relatives, etc. Requirements to be eligible to apply for citizenship through the naturalization process include being at least 18 years old, a Green Card holder, literate in Basic English, etc. Understanding the process and proper documentation makes it easier to become a U.S. citizen.
