Please Note: Our Recreation Team is using the current information and guidelines from Provincial agencies to inform our summer recreation program o� erings. As COVID-19 is unpredictable, we will continue to be adaptable.Programs may need to be changed, moved or cancelled as the pandemic and associated measures evolve. Refunds and/or credits will be made available as needed. We ask that you be patient and understanding if changes need to be made throughout the course of the summer. Thank you.

WATER AMBASSADOR PROGRAM This summer, meet our friendly and knowledgeable Water Safety Ambassadors! With our pools closed, and physical distancing measures in place, Water Safety Ambassadors play an important role in drowning prevention. They will be hitting the beaches to promote water safety and drowning prevention by bringing you tips and family friendly activities to the beaches you frequent!

PARK AMBASSADOR PROGRAM Throughout the summer of 2020 The Regional District of Central Kootenay will be sending our new Park Ambassadors out to our local parks across the region. Park Ambassador Staff will be talking with residents about safe-social outdoor activities to promote healthy and active lifestyles during the pandemic.

With the tools you discovered in Self-Care, Caring for Others will add to your tool kit in gaining further knowledge and understanding the effects of stress, loss, trauma and grief and how to identify when others need help and the best professional assistance to meet their needs.

Psychological First AidThe effects of this pandemic have challenged every individual in different ways. We have all had to adapt to a new way of life. Working through social isolation and towards this ‘new normal’ can impact our emotional and mental wellbeing. Now, more than ever before taking care of our mental health is crucial. These two online courses assist learners in developing a personal understanding of the effects of stress, loss, trauma and grief, with emphasis on self-care and personal protection. Learners will be introduced to the Red Cross Look, Listen, Link, Live model and will learn how to cope with the effects of various types of stress.

For just $20 per course, you will be happy you invested in your mental health!

You will receive an email with directions on how to access My Red Cross https://myrc.redcross.ca/ and as soon as you have set up your myrc account, you will receive all the course content. Concurrent Training for Runners: Strength + Endurance15+ yrsCDCC – Soccer Field

Instructor: Jesse Bourgeois

This outdoor course combines interval running workouts with strength training exercises to improve running performance, strength, and injury prevention for runners. Intervals will be based on your individual pace and strength exercises will have modifications allowing for beginners, intermediates, and advanced runners to participate in this program. Bringing your running watch or app is recommended to monitor your pacing during intervals.
