People need shelter and homes to have safety from the cold and danger. Haddam

has about 3,000 houses.

FoodFood

People need food and water to survive. Haddam use to have a supermarket

across from our school. Soon it will re-open on the other side of town. Haddam

also has Haddam Pizza, AJ’s, Higgie’s, The Pilot House and many other restaurants.

SafetySafety

Safety is important for our community because people need to feel safe from bad

things. Haddam has ambulances, two State Policemen, and a volunteer fire department. Haddam also has many

doctor’s offices. Parents protect children from harm too.

FunFun

Places to have fun are important to a community so people can spend time with

friends and family. Haddam has parks, soccer fields, and baseball fields for

having fun. The HK Recreation Department organizes many sports teams

and activities. At the Haddam Meadows they have events like the Haddam River Days. This helps people get together and

have fun!

Clothing is very important for people in a community because

it protects them from the weather. You need warm things in the winter and things to keep

you cool in the summer. Haddam does not have

anywhere to buy clothes. People need to go to other communities

to get clothing. Haddam does have places where you can

donate clothes to needy people.

I think Haddam is a very good community because it provides four needs: food,

shelter, safety, and the most important thing of all…….FUN!!!
