Summer is here! The beaches, businesses, streets and sidewalks are bustling

with residents, vacationers and local visitors. This is the time when the

department needs your help the most as we work hard to educate the public

and prevent accidents! How can you help? By being aware of your

surroundings and taking the time to LOOK, LISTEN and IDENTIFY

possible dangerous situations. Dangers can be the obvious things that

everyone should see and know are dangerous, or it could be things that

people who are not from this area may never think to look for. Rip currents,

distracted driving, drunk drivers, and intoxicated people or pedestrians are

just a few of the dangers that you can help identify and point out to your

family, neighbors and friends; or to the police to prevent someone from

getting hurt. Never be confrontational, just offer friendly advice. If you are

not comfortable approaching a stranger to tell them about something they are

doing that is dangerous, then call 911 and report it! Let us come out and

address the issue with them to ensure that we are doing all we can to keep

everyone safe during their visit. We want everyone to be aware of potential

dangers so that no one becomes a victim. Cooperation, caring and

communication is what community is all about. Let’s work together to keep

Emerald Isle safe!

Our Mission

The mission of the Emerald Isle Neighborhood Watch Program is to raise resident and

visitor awareness and sensitivity to questionable activity while in Emerald Isle. People who

On behalf of the Police Department and people who live here or visit we want to enlist you

to serve as additional eyes and ears for our police department to enhance our mission.

Never approach or otherwise confront people engaged in suspicious activity. Instead,

we have one simple request. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING…SAY SOMETHING!

Install a security alarm system or camera system in your home to protect your valuables.

Install wide-angle peepholes for outside doors at heights everyone can use to prevent opening doors to strangers.

Install motion detection lights to enhance outdoor security.

Use timers to turn on outside and inside lights automatically at various times throughout the night.

Be Observant and Report: Call 911 to report anything that you think is suspicious or unusual.
