Ensuring the Application of Desert

LCC Science

How can we ensure that science that is generated

through Desert LCC to answer our CMQs gets into the hands of managers to inform decision-making?

Ensuring the Application of Desert

LCC Science Which managers need it?

What format(s) are most useful?

How should it be disseminated?

Where should it be housed?

What are you doing now in your own organization (or in past) that works well? That didn’t work?

Ensuring the Application of Desert

LCC ScienceWhat role does the SWG play in this

process collectively? Dissemination? Translation? Other?

What roles to you anticipate that others (e.g. Steering Committee, CWG) will need to play?

How will we assess/measure whether our science is actually being used by managers—i.e., how will we measure our success?

Desert LCC

Communications

Defining the work of the Desert LCC is foundational to building a strong communications effort.

Knowing who we are, why we do it, what we do and how we do it drives both our collective impact and our communications.

The art of communication is more than what you say. It starts with how you define yourself and your purpose in relation to others.

Desert LCC

Communications

Once an organization has a firmly established identity, its members, partners, and others the organization wants to influence begin to be more aware of its function and value.

That in turn leads to a higher level of involvement, or engagement.
