NEWSLuzon, VizMin move forward to One KMBI

Photos Left-Right: Rizaldy Duque, Executive Director, reminding VizMin staff to never give up on their real purpose; Luzon Operations staff during the praise and worship.

With the theme Start Right: Moving Forward

to One KMBI, the Kabalikat para sa Maunlad na Buhay, Inc. (KMBI) convened 728 staff and selected program members on separate occasions for Luzon and VisMin Operations.

The two-day activity held at White Rock Water Park Resort from Aug 1-2 for Luzon and at Seda Hotel, Davao City for VisMin from August 15-16, solidified KMBI’s stand and presence in its areas of operations. Thus, this year’s regrouping served as a platform for discussion between the Board of Trustees, Management and staff on various issues, plans and improvements concerning the organization.

During the regrouping, KMBI launched its newest ID and the Life Series book for Operations. Moreover, KMBI’s new partners, PinoyAko, FirstLife Financial

Co, Inc, and East West Health Care conducted a short orientation on Health Emergency Lingap Pampamilya Program or HELPP, to give the program members an additional protection in case of emergency hospitalization.

During the Fun Night, the activity was able to raised a total of P19,210 intended for special projects for clients. “As we intend to solidify ourselves more intensely, we believe that we are everyone’s strength. The term, “regrouping” is more expressive of our deliberate intention to group as one, as we reconnect with one another to solidify our stand together,” touted by Edwin Aruelo, Director for Human Capital Group and Chairman for Staff Regrouping. “Regrouping is just like after war. Soldiers - hurt, tired, hungry, and depressed - all come together to regain

strength and power,” said Hazel Christine Rosacia-Bayaca, Staff Regrouping co-chair and Business Innovation Group (BIG) director. The staff regrouping was also made possible with the help of production director, Marissa Dela Rosa from Marketing and Communication Department.

“It was such a good break for everyone. I’m happy to see that our clients really enjoyed the activities as well,” shared Cyrene Ramos, West Avenue Branch program unit supervisor.

What does it mean to be ONE?

If someone said to you that unity could dramatically change the world, would you believe in it? In today’s world, we are very prone to conflicts. It may be in the government, community, family, work, and even in Churches. Conflicts will turn to division and people will turn against each other. Thus we have to get over from the

issues that caused division among us. If we are united, we will be more armed to combat more serious issues in the future.

As Christians, KMBI should come together in brotherly love. It would be much easier to build a better nation if we are united. So, what can we do now?

Own up our Family. As family, our roots remain as

ONE. We need to acknowledge that we belong to only ONE Family and One God. Notice how Paul approached the Corinthians in 1 Corinthians1:10 “I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ…” he called them brothers and sisters. Let us be brothers and

sisters just like how Paul approached the Corinthians. Let us be each other’s strength.

Never give up on our real purpose! –1 Corinthians 1:17 “For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel…” Our purpose is to facilitate TRANSFORMATION and we should never give up on that. Let us not forget that we’re called

to contribute in building a better nation – that is our grand mission and vision.

Engage willingly in making unity a reality! - 1 Corinthians 1:10 “…that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.” If we are not going to engage willingly, our dreams will never be fulfilled. In the gospel of John, the Lord Jesus Christ prayed for unity. Let us learn to love others and forget selfishness. I do believe that there is a greater guidance for us to achieve unity by the grace of God. If we achieved unity, by the grace of God, God will be glorified. To glorify God is our purpose.

Know our roots. Let us be passionate to know more about Christ. We are fortunate that KMBI provided that opportunity

for all of us. We want to be rooted. We want to know more about Christ because it’s Christ that we bring to the field.

Mimic Christ. Be passionate to know every characteristic of Christ. In our current situation, one of the characteristics of Christ that is very important to mimic is Humility. We need to be humble in our righteousness.

Bag the goal (perfection). We need to bag the goal. What kind of goal? This is the resurrection in the spiritual and physical sense. In Philippians 3:11 it says that “...and so somehow attain to the resurrection from the dead. We are spiritually dead prior to the acceptance of Christ as Lord and Savior.” When we received Christ, we have been revived; we have been given a new body - a new mind and spirit.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “therefore if I want to see Christ, he is a new creation.” This is the start of perfection in our life.

Inevitable victory. The inevitable victory will be given. Philippians 3:12 says, “not that I have already obtain all this or have I already arrived at my goal. I press on to to take hold on of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.” We are now being assured that inevitable victory has happened and will continue to happen.

When KMBI was established in the 1980s, part of its objective is to integrate God and His work to our work. That will not be taken out in the way we do things in KMBI. We will continue being empowered by that concept and by that reality. The difference this time is that we will work on it as ONE KMBI!

While listening to Sir Dave, I was reminded of the book “Lessons

from the Mouse,” I’ve read several months ago about the struggles and success of Walt Disney. In the book, a boss told his staff, “There’s no such thing as a perfect boss or a perfect company. If you’re looking for either one, you’re doomed to a life of disappointment.” Disney, like any other company, faced challenges, and so does KMBI. But beyond the blunders and defeats, they continued to work, shared their mistakes, and consistently focused on what is important – they move as ONE.

As KMBI strived to move as ONE, Sir Dave shared important lessons from the ants. Same as those from the mouse, it tells us to be united.

In the Bible, Paul tells us something significant about God and unity. Romans 15:5-6 says May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that

Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In verse

five, Paul mentioned two aspects of God’s character i.e. steadfastness and encouragement. In today’s changing world (and at KMBI), one of the things we need is someone who is steadfast and reliable. When we are down and disappointed, we need a lift by receiving encouragement. The God we worship gives endurance and encouragement. Paul’s prayer is that the God of steadfastness and encouragement will “grant us to live in harmony with one another, in accordance with Christ Jesus.”

Why Ants?Ants are mentioned in the bible, in Proverbs 6:6-8

and Proverbs 30:24-25. In proverbs 6, Solomon invites us to study the ant for the purpose of learning wisdom. Ants have no

commandment; yet, they work together to store food for the winter. Proverbs 30:25 makes a similar point, ants are creatures of little strength yet they store up their food in the summer. Now, how does little ants with little strength managed to store enough food to make it through the winter months? The answer is, they start early, they look to the future, they pull their strength, and they work together for the common good. Let us consider the ways of the ant. Thousands of years ago King Solomon said, go to the ant, consider her ways and be wise.

to eat, they immediately inform others by leaving a trail of scent. They share everything. That’s how they love one another and work as a team.

3. Ants are hardworking. They keep themselves busy all day long. Whenever they face obstacles, they never give up so easily. They are not afraid of carrying objects bigger than they are.

Power of

UnitySee how ants work together and care for one another? Today, as we move forward as one, we want our staff to be just like how ants care for one another. Walang iwanan! The call for us is to be ONE KMBI, in unity there is life. We shall indeed be laborers of God. It is commonly accepted that there is power in unity. “A rope made of three cords is hard to break.” Ecc. 4:12.

species of ants, they sleep seven hours a day, and can lift 10 times their weight, the ants’ abdomen contains two stomachs, one stomach holds the food for itself and the other stomach is for food to be shared with other ants. Ants are clean and tidy. Each colony of ants has its own smell. In this way, intruders can be recognized immediately. If a worker ant has found a good source for food, it leaves a trail of scent so that the other ants in the colony can find the food.

Lessons from the Ants1. Ants are great planners.

They are well organized, disciplined, and exhibits action in time. Each ant has a special job and they are organized in carrying out their tasks. The way they march one after the other is the best sign of discipline. They are always on time; they store food during summer for the coming winter. So when the winter comes they never lack anything.

2. Ants are not selfish. If they found something

order, did whatever is right no matter the discomfort and sacrifices. These are the stories of our brave men and women from the field.

Those who were kept silent and simply asked to obey defied odds and stood up for what is right because of their faith and strength of character.

Ang position, darating ‘yan in God’s perfect time.

Sa KMBI, sanay naman tayo to submit. Pero nung dalawa yung directives mula sa itaas nalito kami, but we also submit to them dati, we provide ano man ang kailangan nila sa branch noon, ang importante sa amin controlled namin ang branch kasi accountable kami dito. Pero never kaming nagpadikta sa IS namin. ‘Yun ang gusto ko, kaya nag-usap usap kami at sama-samang nagdesisyon…nagdesisyon man ako, hindi iyon sa sarili ko lang, para sa kalahatan…good talaga yung makinig at saka tingnan mo na as much as possible intact kayo.

Realization namin na it’s good na maging transparent, wala kang itatago even to the level of clients and even external partners.

KMBI celebrates its 28th yearWith its 40 branches, 2 satellite units and the Head Office, KMBI simultaneously celebrated its 28th Glorious Years on October 24, 2014.

With the theme Start Right: Forward to One KMBI, the Head Office and branches organized a simple gathering aimed at giving thanks to God’s faithfulness and strengthening the camaraderie among the staff. Part of the program is affirmation of the Lord’s faithfulness and commitment setting.

Each branch held a staff celebration while those involving program members varied from one

branch to the other. Valenzuela branch, in cooperation with Corporate Planning and Special Project and BIG- PPI Department, held a wellness caravan in partnership with PinoyAko, First Life, and East West who are KMBI’s partners in its Microinsurance program. It was also supported by Uniliver-PureIT who conducted an orientation on water-borne diseases and water purification and raffled off two units of water purifier as part of their pursuit to provide safe drinking water.

KMBI invested a total of P0.3M for the celebration.
