A Brotherly Plea - Dear Brethren,
Ionic Lodge #31 - your lodge - is strong and viable, but a few years ago it was on the verge of disaster. A number of concerned Brethren united to restore our lodge to its former glory. Today, there are no PMs in the chairs. The WM and officers are doing excellent ritual work, each proud to his part in maintaining “Ionic Proficiency.” All Stated Communica-tions have good programs and are preceded by enjoyable meals. All degrees are followed by smaller refreshments of food or snacks and beverages, at no cost.
Sadly, a serious lack of attendance has made this writing neces-sary. You are doing your lodge a disservice by not attending and giving the support it deserves. It has to be discouraging for the WM and officers to see so few of their Brothers visiting. It is understood that most of you have busy lives. However, if you would make the effort to attend once a month or on you Ma-sonic Birthday, it could make a noticeable difference. Please help to keep Ionic Lodge strong. It is one of which to be proud. Fraternally yours, A concerned Brother
Sick and Visitation Please contact Brother Bill Calloway, Chair-
man of the Sick & Visitation Committee, to
report on the illness or needs of any mem-
ber of Ionic Lodge. Brother Bill can be
reached at 302-999-0847 or via email at
Message From the East
Brothers,
Our next charity fund raiser is off and
running! We are raffling an O27 gage Mason-
ic Train Set. There are 500 tickets available at
a cost of 5$ each. The winner will be called
at our June stated meeting or earlier when all
tickets are sold. A portion of the proceeds
from this raffle will benefit one or more Mason-
ic Charities.
Tickets for our annual railroad degree
are selling quickly. There are only 140 tickets
available at 40 dollars each. Lunch is includ-
ed. Act now to insure your place on the train!
This is a casual event. Dress comfortable. Bib
overalls and flannel shirts are welcome.
Grand Master Trestle Board Message 2 Winter 2018
Brethren, what is it that makes you a Ma-son? Is your Masonic ring? Maybe the MM tag or square and Compasses that we all so proudly display on our cars? Is it your membership in the Scottish Rite, the York Rite, Shrine or Tall Cedars? What makes you a Mason? Your Obligation – of course. Where were you first made a Mason? In your HEART – again, of course. But I ask the simple question again - What makes you a Mason? Brethren, it is our deeds and our actions that define us as Masons. As Masons, we tout the virtues of
fraternalism, brotherly love, relief and truth; but my brethren, our actions speak louder than our words. So, my challenge to all of my Masonic Brethren this year is to live our lives in such a way that our exam-ple establishes a positive perception of Masonry for the world to see, because it’s what we do – our ac-tions - that the world sees, and it is by our deeds and actions which we will be judged – individually and collectively. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you as Grand Master and always remember, we have the privilege of living in the land of the free only because of the sacrifices of the brave.
If anyone knows of a brother who is
not receiving Trestleboards by mail or elec-
tronically, please let me know.
Your Brother, Bryan Irwin wm.

If you have not been to lodge for a while and are not sure what to say or do, we could have a rusty nail night/program. This would be an evening of general review of signs, grips, and words, and perhaps talk about the points in our obligations. This could be done with a light feel and make it a fun event. (refresher) If interested, please respond and the lodge will put a program together.
