PROCEDURE

Personal issue of uniform and personal protective equipment

The Supply of personal issue uniform and personal protective equipment procedure has been

published on the intranet on the Publications page and the Uniforms and PPC toolkit.

This procedure describes the supply and resupply of personal issue items of uniform and

personal protective equipment (PPE) to firefighters. Highlights of the new procedure include:

• Reference to an updated list of initial issue and replacement issue items of uniform

and PPE, including for senior officers.

• Reference to the list of cold climate and alpine fire stations.

• A requirement for firefighters to check the fit of all items as soon as they are issued.

Who needs to read this?

This procedure must be read by all firefighters, and by all admin staff who may be involved

in the issue of uniform and personal protective equipment to firefighters.

Rescindments

This procedure rescinds:

• In Orders 2008/12, ‘Issue of uniforms and protective clothing’

• In Orders 2008/12, ‘Replacement of uniforms and protective clothing’

• In Orders 2003/10, ‘Supply of mess dress uniform’

• In Orders 2004/14, ‘Identification wallet’.

ANZAC Day Leave

Tuesday 25 April 2017 is ANZAC Day.

Special leave will be approved for all ex-services personnel and current serving Australian

Defence Force Reserve personnel who are rostered for duty on ANZAC Day and who march

with the FRNSW Contingent in the Sydney ANZAC Day March.

This leave will be approved for the hours that eligible personnel would otherwise have

worked between 0800 hours, Tuesday 25 April 2017 and 0800 hours Wednesday 26 April

2017, and will not be deducted from personal leave credits.

Eligible personnel who desire to march with the FRNSW Contingent must submit an

ANZAC DAY LEAVE FORM. Applications for ANZAC Day Leave will close at 0800 hours

on Thursday 20 April 2017.

How to apply for ANZAC Day Leave

1. Download and complete an ANZAC Day Leave form from the Station Portal;

2. Attach proof of your Defence Force Service such as a copy of your Defence Force

enlistment or discharge papers; and

3. Forward your completed ANZAC Day Leave Form, together with your proof of

Defence Force Service papers to the ANZAC Day Co-ordinator as follows:

(i) By fax to: (02) 9265 2785. Note: This is a secure fax; or

(ii) By email to: [email protected]

Eligible personnel who fail to submit an ANZAC Day Leave form together with proof of

Defence Force Service by Thursday 20 April 2017 will not be granted ANZAC Day Leave.

ANZAC Day Leave is only available to eligible personnel who march with the FRNSW

Contingent in the Sydney ANZAC Day March.

All current firefighter vacancies may be accessed via the Internal Jobs Board and applications

must be completed online by following the links provided.

Online applications must include a brief cover letter, resume and address the two targeted

questions.

EOI Perisher Valley 2017 Ski Season Relief Firefighters

Expressions of interest are sought from Permanent Firefighters to relieve at 426 Station

Perisher Valley. The period of relief will be for one of three periods (of approximately 5

weeks) within the 2017 Ski season.

This will commence from Friday 9 June 2017 Monday 2 October 2016 however may be

varied dependent upon prevailing weather conditions.
