The Mission of the Inmate Welfare Bureau is to sustain meaningful assistance to the inmate population of the Los Angeles County Jail system by making recommendations to the Inmate Welfare Commission for funding of education, recreation, vocational training, counseling, and re-entry. Funds are allocated in accordance with Penal Code 4025 and used primarily for the welfare and benefit of the inmates.
The Inmate Welfare Commission makes its recommendations to the Sheriff through theCustody Services Division’s Inmate Services Bureau.

The Jail Enterprises Unit (JEU) sells products and services that are made by inmates in vocational training programs.
We sell products and services to:
Government Agencies located within the State of California Non Profit Organizations organized under 501(C)3 All Los Angeles County Employees
We do not sell to the public.
Products cannot be resold.
Revenues generated from products and services are deposited into the Inmate Welfare Fund and are expended on the welfare and benefit of the inmates in the Los Angeles County. The Inmate Welfare Fund is overseen by the Inmate Services Bureau.
