Solid recovered fuel

The production of solid recovered fuel from recyclable materials is an

under-utilised technology in the UK. SRF is waste that is treated to

produce a small fuel pellet, which can be used as a substitute for

conventional fossil fuels in industrial applications such as the

cement industry.

SRF will play a significant part in the drive to divert materials that

cannot be recovered or recycled from landfill. Veolia Environmental

Services has considerable expertise in SRF production from

operations in other European countries, and will be investing in its

development as a progressive response to increasing demand for

targets to increase recycling and reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.
