New Delhi, March 11 (PIB) Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi will flag off the 'Padyatra' (Freedom March) from Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad tomorrow (March 12) at 10.30 am & inaugurate the curtain raiser activities of the 'Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav' (India@75). Prime Minister will also launch various other cultural and digital initiatives for the India@75 celebrations and will also address the gathering at Sabarmati Ashram. Governor of Gujarat, Shri Acharya Devvrat, Union MoS(I/C) Shri Prahalad Singh Patel Commemoration of 75 th Anniversary of India's Independence Port Blair, March 11 Together with the rest of the country, A&N Islands is all set to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India's Independence 'Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav' with series of events to unfold tomorrow (March 12). The festive fervour will begin with Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon'ble Lt Governor, A&N Islands paying floral tribute at the Martyrs' Column, National Memorial Cellular Jail at 4 pm. A&N Islands all set to join celebrations of India's 75 years of Independence 'Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav' Soon after paying tribute, the Lt Governor will flag off a Freedom Run from the historic Cellular Jail which will culminate at Flag Point. This will be followed by a musical event to pay tribute to heroes of our freedom struggle in the premises of Cellular Jail at 4.15 pm. It is a known fact that the A&N Islands played a significant role in the Indian freedom movement and represents a glorious chapter of our history which will inspire the generations to come. The Cellular Jail, a unique symbol of India's struggle for freedom, was first of its kind in India which provided 698 cells for solitary confinement. Great sacrifices were made to achieve our Independence. As part of the commemorative event, tomorrow, a seminar will be held at JNRM while an essay competition will be organized at Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Port Blair besides an exhibition on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at National Memorial Cellular Jail. and Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Vijay Rupani will also be present. Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav is a series of events to be organised by the Government of India to commemorate the 75 th Anniversary of India's Independence. The Mahotsav will be celebrated as a Jan- Utsav in the spirit of Jan-Bhagidari. A National Implementation Committee headed by the Home Minister has been constituted to chalk out policies and planning of various events to be undertaken under the Commemoration. The curtain raiser activities are beginning from 12 th March 2021, 75 weeks prior to 15th August, 2022. Padyatra The Padyatra to be flagged off by PM, will be undertaken by 81 marchers from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad to Dandi in Navsari, a journey of 241 miles that will end on 5 th April, lasting for 25 days. The Padyatra will be joined by different groups of people on the way to Dandi. Union Minister, Shri Prahalad Singh Patel, will lead the first lap of 75 kilometers of the padyatra. Curtain Raiser Initiatives under India@75 The event will witness inauguration of the curtain raiser activities planned under the theme India@75 viz. film, website, song, Aatmanirbhar Charkha and Aatmanirbhar Incubator. Along with the above initiatives, a cultural program presenting the celebration of the indomitable spirit of the country will also be organized. It will include music, dance, recitation, reading of the Preamble (each line in a different l a n g u a g e , representing the different regions of the country). Depicting the youth power, as the future of India there will be 75 voices in the choir as well as 75 dancers in the event. State and UT Car Nicobar, March 11 An Exhibition- cum-Sales (Mela) was held at Community Hall, Big Lapathy Village, Car Nicobar under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY - NRLM) attached to CD Block, Car Nicobar yesterday, to display the products of Tribal Women Self Help Group. The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri Kishore Kshirsagar Lakshman, Deputy Commissioner. Nicobar District. Shri Lionel Nicomede, Chairman, Exhibition-cum-Sales under DAY-NRLM organized at Car Nicobar Tribal Women SHG displays handmade tribal products; MGNREGA workers too showcased handicrafts items Tribal Council, Car Nicobar was the guest of honour. Captains of all the villages, Govt. Officials and villagers were also present. The Self Help Group got the opportunity to showcase their handmade tribal women products such as handicrafts made from coconut shell & bamboo besides mats, pillow covers, coconut oil etc. Meanwhile, workers of MGNREGA from various villages also participated and showcased their handicrafts and other handmade items. The aim is to provide a pucca house with basic amenities inclusive of a hygienic cooking space to the houseless and those living in kutcha houses. Under PMAY- G, beneficiaries are provided unit assistance of Rs. 1.2 lakh PMAY-(G) makes great strides in A & N Islands towards achieving the goal of 'Housing for All' Port Blair, March 11 As part of FSSAI initiative of Eat Right India movement, the Food Safety Department organized a Food Licensing and Registration Mela at Ferrargunj Community Hall for the benefit of new Food Business Operators of the locality. About 57 new Food Business Operators of the adjoining areas visited the mela. The main aim of the mela was to facilitate new FBOs in obtaining Food Safety Deptt. organizes Food Licensing and Registration Mela at Ferrargunj & Wimberlygunj license/registration certificates through the online portal of FSSAI. demise of Lucas Issac, age 62, who breathed his last at

G.B. Pant Hospital, Port Blair on 10.03.2021 at 8.30 AM.

He served Manula Matai Ltd. and Apex Central Co-

operative Society, Nancowrie as General Manager and

also was one of the prominent Tribal Leader of Nancowrie

Group of Islands. He is survived by his wife, daughter

and two sons. The Tribal Council prays the bereaved

family members for strengthening the family bear the

irreparable loss. As decided the last rites will be held at

his native place, Champin, Nancowry. May his soul rest

in peace.
