Texas Elks Triple “C” = Commando Cooking Challenge On Friday, September 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. under a tent near the RV Park, the “Commando Cooking” Head chefs receive a basket/box of mystery ingredients to create a three course meal for (3) three plates before time runs out. The “Commando Cooking” Chef/team will have until 3:50 p.m. on Friday September 21 st to go to the store, if needed, to purchase other items to prepare their dishes. Cooking will start promptly at 4:00 p.m. All preparation & cooking must be prepared on site at the Texas Elks Children’s Services RV Park at the start & end of each course and not before/after for each course. There are (3) three rounds in the competition: appetizer, entrée and dessert (in this order). At the start of each round the contestants must use all the mystery ingredients in some way that have been identified to use for that particular round. There will be (3) three mystery ingredients for each course that must be used. The basket will include the meat/protein that will be required for the entrée dish. As for the entrée, it is the team’s choice to “Highlight” the protein or incorporate it. There will be deductions in points if any of the mystery ingredients don’t make it on the (3) three plates for each course. Judging will be based on creativity, presentation & taste (rate on scale 1-5 with 5 the highest). Plates will be provided for each round. Cooks should come prepared with pots, pans, burners, fryers etc…there will be one “spotter” assigned to each team in order to confirm use of the mystery ingredients and to verify that no “prep” work is done before the start of the round. Note: Points will be deducted if any “prep” work begins before the start time. When the timer goes off, the food must be plated and ready to eat. No exceptions! Anything not on the plate can’t be served. The head Chefs then go before a panel of (3) three snarky judges at which their dished are judged on the basis of presentation, taste and creativity. The chef with the favorite dish will be announced after each round. The chef/team with the highest total scores of all three dishes is name the Texas Elks Triple “C” = Commando Cooking Challenge “Champion”. Registration for the competition ends September 21, 2018 at 12:00 noon-see attached registration form.

Donation: $150.00 per team At the end of the “dessert” judging, the total points for all (3) three categories will be tallied to determine the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Winners. The judging team will announce the winning team for each category.

• NOTE: For four or five teams, it is winner take all for their designated

beneficiary. Refer to registration form as each team must designate a Lodge/District Sweetheart to receive the remaining funds if they win 1st Place.

• For six or more teams, the 1st Place winner will receive two-thirds of the winnings and the 2nd Place team will receive one-third of the winnings for their designated beneficiary.

• If there are less than four teams, it is up to the discretion of the Commando Cooking Challenge Coordinator to cancel or modify the event.

On Friday, September 21, 2018 The Head Chef must describe their dish and how the mystery ingredients were used. Only the Head Chef is required to attend each judging • Appetizer Cooking begins promptly at 4:00 p.m. & ends at 4:30 p.m. Judging

will begin immediately at 4:30. • Entrée cooking begins at 5:00 p.m. & ends at 5:30 p.m. with judging

immediately at 5:30. • Dessert cooking begins at 6:00 p.m. & ends at 6:30 p.m. with judging

immediately at 6:30 p.m
