I wish to thank all for helping the Post survive and continue to be an American Legion Post dedicated to American Legion Programs,Principles, and Veterans. The Post will continue with the cooperation of all members to observe the present CDC, County, and State regulations they have put in place. There will continue to be changes as we return to a semblance of normal. We know the e-mail announcements the Post is sending has not reached everyone. If you have an email address and are not receiving the Post email, leave a note at the canteen with your name and correct email address so you can be brought up to date on any changes. Just a reminder, door cards will be changed on January 1st, 2021. If you have not done so, please pay your dues now. In the early spring, the Post will have our annual outside/yard clean-up and trimming, including our new lot added to our property. If you would like to volunteer, contact Jim Prosperi, coordinator. This month, after a long overdue acknowledgment, I would like to name Kim Bowie as "Member of the Month". Kim has served the Post, Canteen, and Office in many ways but mostly by keeping our Canteen stocked with all that was ever needed. The amount saved due to her efforts and knowledge has been amazing.     Commander’s Message Hello American Legion Family,

    Service Officer Report According to the 2012 U.S.Census brief,

    veterans age 65 or older numbered in excess of 12.4 million. These veterans served in conflicts around the world including World War II, Korean War, the Vietnam War, and even the Persian Gulf War. As veterans age, the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) will provide benefits and services that address a variety of issues including the changing health risks they face, as well as financial challenges through VA benefits and services.VA Benefits Veterans may be eligible for a wide variety of benefits available to all U.S. veterans including: disability compensation, pension, education and training, health care, home loans, insurance, vocational rehabilitation and employment, and burial.VA Benefits for Elderly Veterans (that are eligible for or receive a VA Pension benefit) Aid and Attendance (A&A) is an increased amount paid to your pension, if you meet the below conditions: you require help performing daily functions

    including bathing, eating, and dressing. you are bedridden. you are a patient in a nursing home. your eyesight is limited to a corrected 5/200

    visual acuity or less in both eyes or concentriccontraction of the visual field to 5 degrees orless.

    housebound (substantially confined to yourimmediate premises because of a permanentdisability).

    Application for any of these benefits can be completed and filed during a scheduled appointment with a Veteran Service Officer at our local Veterans Services Office. The Post Service Officer can assist you with anything needed for this appointment.
