Rev. Barbara Ristow returns to lead our service again this morning. She’s a retired United Methodist minister with a background in Christian Education, local church ministry, plus hospital and hospice chaplaincy. Barbara is also the mother of our church secretary, Michelle Lake.

Today, we’ll also enjoy music from Michele Griffith and her friend Heather Piontek. Michele’s been a member of our church family for almost 20 years. Heather is a member of the St. Bernard Parish. Our Judy Allan Memorial Garden has generated almost 300 pounds of produce for local food pantries so far this summer! This week, members of our Worship & Music Ministry are scheduled to handle most of the routine weeding, watering, and harvesting, but everyone is always encouraged to get involved. Whether you have a green thumb or just like playing in the dirt once in a while, we’d appreciate your help! Contact Lynn Huebbe at [email protected] for more information.

More Stuff You Should Know…

† Thanks to everyone who helped with the CASA Back-to-School Drive. We raised $780 in gift cards to allow 20 youth in their program to learn about shopping wisely for clothes and supplies.

† Our Contemporary Readers Group will return in September. They’ll meet monthly to discuss books dealing with religion, social issues, environment, and other “hot” topics. If you’d like to suggest a book, lead a review, or just learn more, please contact Corday Goddard, Jean Hamersky, or Lee Richardson.

† Esther Circle will resume its monthly Bible study for women next month. Contact Marilyn Knuth at 336-7159 for more information.

† The summer break is almost over for our creative ladies of Mission Sewing. If you knit, crochet, quilt, or want to learn how, you’re invited to join them when they hold their first meeting of the new program year on Thursday, September 6 at 9:30am in the Koinonia Lounge.

It’s time to register for the Third Annual Presbyterian Golf Outing at the Ledgeview Golf Course on Saturday, September 22. Men and women of any skill level from our church and from First Presbyterian in Green Bay are invited. It’s only $30 for nine holes, a cart, and lunch. To register, please write down your name, phone number, and email address, and drop it in the offering plate. Contact Ken Nyberg for more information.

Rally Day 2018 is coming two weeks from today! On Sunday, September 9 we’ll begin a new program year with the return of Sunday School for all ages at 8:30am, the return of our regular musical groups during the worship, and our annual Rally Day Potluck Lunch. Please plan on bringing your favorite main dish, salad, or dessert to share. Help our church family kick

off another amazing year of activity and fellowship.

Time to stop monkeying around and join the fun on our Sunday Afternoon Bike Rides! Everyone’s invited to meet at Spring Green Park in Howard this afternoon at 4pm. Rides usually last about an hour at a pace decided by those who join in each week. For more details, contact Becky Nyberg at 920-606-6438 or find the full schedule and all the information on our website (www.firstunitedpc.org).

Are you part of a group that meets at the church regularly? A brand new program year is beginning soon, so please turn in a “Building Use Form” to reserve the room you need and get on our Church calendar. Forms are available in the Copy Room and can be downloaded from our website. Be sure to complete both sides.

These are the flowers our church sent to the funeral of Pastor Luke’s step-father, Syd Campbell. Luke sent the photo with his heartfelt “thank you” to our church family.
