American v. Japanese• An American comic book
is a small magazine originating in the United States and containing a narrative in the form of comics. Since 1975 the dimensions have standardized at 17 x 26 cm (6 ⅝" × 10 ¼"), although larger formats appeared in the past.
Manga consist of comics and print cartoons in the Japanese language and conforming to the style developed in Japan in the late 19th century.[1] In their modern form, manga date from shortly after World War II,[2] but they have a long, complex pre-history in earlier Japanese art.[3]
In Japan people of all ages read manga.

• American: Violence, gore, crime-solving, detective stories, and super-heroes
• Japanese: The genre includes a broad range of subjects: action-adventure, romance, sports and games, historical drama, comedy, science fiction and fantasy, mystery, horror, sexuality, and business/commerce, among others
