19 May 2014 – the first day of the visit of European guests
in Gimnazjum nr 22 in Czestochowa
At the first day of the visit of the participants from partners schools through Comenius
project in our school on Monday we came together with our guests with full of good humor.
After the welcoming words said by the Headmistress Ms Dorotę Strzelczyk and by
Coordinator Mr Stefan Rudzki we were taken on a short visit of the school. The guests from
other countries with enthusiasm watched our cups and diplomas which hung on the walls in
our school. Later we walked to a common room where we found tables with cakes, coffee, tea
and fruits. After the short lunch we started working on the project tasks – Power Point
presentations on effects of smoking, drugs and drinking. After Presentations foreign and
Polish students had the occasion to meet each other at the time of break. A lot of students
from our school had opportunity to hear other lunguages make relations with our guests. Later
we left school and in front of it we took some photos. Next we went to the tram station to go
to the City Office to meet the local authorities.
In the City Hall the Headmistress was waiting for us with another teacher Ms Konopka. In
the session hall we were welcomed by Vice-President Mr Ryszard Stefaniak. He said he is
very happy, that so many wonderful guests want to sightseeing our city. We watched a short
film promoting the city, too and next we got some small gifts. After this meeting, the students
went to McDonald for lunch, while the teachers went to one of the nearest restaurant, walking
back they had an opportunity to watch” a boxing match” between two lorries drivers ☺. After
lunch we went to the Bieganski Square to meet the teachers and continue the programme of
the first day. There, the polish students took the role of the guides and told our guests
something about history of our city. Next, we walked towards the monastery of Jasna Gora
and surrounding parks, all the time listening to our guides. Finally, we reached the monastery
of Jasna Gora - the most distinctive sight in Czestochowa, also the world pilgrimage centre
and the Polish national shrine. Everyone, with delight, were sightseeing the Basilica and the
Chapel of Our Lady, rich chambers and monastic halls. And after visiting of the monastery,
which was the last point of the programme with good moods and thoughts about next day, we
came back to our houses.
