The trip:(Travel to Belgium)

- early in the morning (7:15am) : appointment at TGV station in Valence

- few minutes after: we took the train to Lille-Europe (passing by Lyon & near Paris)

-11:45am: we arrived at Lille-Europe, we went through the underground (guided by Mrs. Lamblin) to go to Lille-Flandres station

-12:00: We caught a smaller & lower train to Tournai (Belgium)

-1:00pm: at Tournai, we were waited by the school bus

-1:30pm: arriving to the school, visiting …

The School : ARLT of Anvaing

ARLT means Athénée Royal (Public secondary school) Lucienne Tellier

Location : The school is near Tournai but in the countryside, the nearest buildings are a gas station and a factory of chips « friterie » at 500 meters, there are some houses too.

Classes : In the school there are classic classrooms, an audiovisual section (with a small cinema), a sewing section and, for the youngest, some classes in “immersion”, only speaking Flemish/Dutch.

There is a hall where most of the pupils stay and a large playground without barriers (that is really the countryside!) and a big gymnasium where the show took place on Thursday night.

The “Rhetos”: Most of our pen friends were in their last year at school, they were called the “Rhetos”, they have a special status in the school, they organize lot of events, travels and they keep a candy shop. They are freer than the other pupils of the school ... but they have exams at the end of the year !

The trip(back to France)

We came back on Friday by the same way, our pen friends came with us to Tournai that we visited together.

Arrived in Lille, we had a little break to visit then we came back to Valence.

Belgian students saying :

“À tantôt!”
