COMENIUS PARTNERSHIP: Project Visit to Slovenia, 11-14 March Mrs Mushtaq, Mrs Foy, Mrs Wagland and myself returned on Sunday from a 5 day visit to our partner kindergarten, Vrtec Najdihojca in Ljubljana (Slovenia), where we were able to present the children’s learning in our European project “Frog, Cow, Squirrel and their Four Mysterious Friends”. We spent most of the time in the four different kindergarten sites (they have over 700 children spread over three main units) and learnt a lot about what each partner had done so far in the project, and were challenged to provide new experiences and learning for the children. We also saw a lot of Slovenian kindergarten practice over two full days, as well as meeting to prepare the work for the final part of the program. I hope to write a fuller report for parents so that you can share

some of our learning. My aim is to get that written for next Friday. The children will be doing the final part of the project, including more Skyping with other settings, after Easter, and we will finish the project by visiting Holland in June.

Sad Farewell to Mrs Armstrong Just before half term we received the sad

news that Mrs Armstrong, who has

taught here since 2009, is retiring from

teaching and leaving at the end of this

term. Sue has been a stalwart teacher and

highly pastoral carer to many children at

Christ the Sower and she is much loved

here; so to see her go is a bit of a shock. I

know that Daisy parents have been aware

for a couple of weeks that Sue is leaving,

but we wanted all parents to know, as

she’s been much valued by parents over

the years.

A happy circumstance has led us to

be able to appoint Miss Charlotte Brown

as Mrs Armstrong’s successor. She is able

to begin straight after the Easter holidays.

If you have signed up to come and see the Y3

-4 production of “What a Knight” then you are

in for a real treat! We have been watching

the rehearsals and the first dress rehearsal

this afternoon and it is going to be stunning!

In case I don’t get to say it elsewhere, my

heartfelt thanks to Mr Marshall, Mrs Dry-

land, Mrs Mitchell and Miss Ratcliffe for all

that they have drawn out of their children

for this show. Truly STUNNING. Opening

night is this Tuesday at 6 p.m., with a repeat

performance on Wednesday at the same time.

Thanks to all those children who were very sensible when going out to experience to-day’s solar eclipse....

Although it didn’t get as dark as we had ex-pected, children with proper glasses and pin-hole cameras (or colanders!) saw exactly what happened!

The Chaplaincy team would once again really value your prayer support as we seek to underpin all that the school

does with prayer. We meet to pray regularly and if there are any prayer requests that you have and would like prayer for, there is a spe-cial box in the Reception Foyer for you to put requests in. Please:

Give thanks for the huge amount of work that teachers and children have put in this term—we really have seen the progress as a result!

Pray for those teachers who have had lots of changes—new children and parents, new working partners or difficult circum-stances.

Pray for those children who face difficulties in housing, family break-up, do-mestic violence and unemploy-ment. All of these impact dread-fully on children and we need to ask God to protect children in these situations.

Prayer Pointers

Parent Council! Parent Council met last night and discussed the following issues:

The need for children to have the right footwear when going outside, in case of mud.

The need for Y6 children to be dressed properly in school uniform and how we could help with costs when a child is in their last year at Christ the Sower.

The new report format and how parents would know about the achievement of their child

Plans from the school about how we might impact our community better.

An update on the successful SIAMS inspection in late February.

How the school can help parents understand the safety and care concerns sur-rounding children during the lunch hour.

The school’s final policy on exactly when and for how long children are sent home for medical reasons.

My thanks to Ama Bimpong for taking the minutes and Michelle Jones for chair-ing. The minutes of the last meeting will appear on the website shortly, whilst the minutes from last night’s meeting will appear after Easter.

Y4 TEAM WIN MK SCHOOLS’ HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIPS

2 Teams represented our school in the MK Schools Hockey Festival. 24 schools participated and the teams where put into 4 different pools and played up to 6 games each. Both teams played excellently and were a credit to our school. One of our two teams won the competition overall and have now been invited to the county finals to be held at Stoke Mandeville in the summer.

Too late to get in the previous edition was the wonderful Y3 LIBRARY

SLEEPOVER, the brainchild of Mrs Feil and then put into practice by as

host of willing volunteers from the staff! Thanks to all of them, and to

parents for being willing to try this experiment. The food, the fellowship

and the reading were all a great experience. Here are a few photos!

there is a cake sale from some very committed Y6 chil-

dren to support Macmillan Cancer Care.
