Kick it Out – One Game One Community

The One Game, One Community Week of Action 2007 will take place between 18 – 30 October.

Community groups, footballers and fans will come together to get behind the message 'One Game, One Community‘ to

say no to Racism in Football and the community.

During Kick it Out week (18th – 30th October)

1. You can buy a Kick it Out T-shirt and wear it throughout the week. Limited numbers so hurry!

unwanted clothes (must be washed/clean), sweets (wrapped), socks, shoes.

For elderly – tinned food, jars jam etc, scarves, gloves, puzzle books, jigsaws etc

For animal shelter – tinned/contained animal food/toys/blankets etc

Which of these are crimes?• Deliberate spitting at someone

• Smoking cannabis• Dropping litter• Letting off firework in street• Hoax phone calls, emails,

knocking on someone’s door.• Acting as a look out for someone

who is committing a crime.• Carrying a knife• Deliberate harming of an animal• Slapping someone• Supplying alcohol or tobacco to

under 18s.• Graffiti • Truancy – bunking off school• Stealing another person’s

property (mobile, I pod)

If persistent – done many times. This would be deemed harassment.

If a police officer catches you – you could be arrested.

Not a crime in itself – but if persistent parents could be taken to court.

Improving Current Subjects

• More college courses to be offered as part of GCSE options process.

• Students wanted to do more applied work in ICT – linking their ICT to other subjects etc in ICT lessons

• More Careers Days and events about future life focussing on skills needed (independence week?)

• More practical and group work across the curriculum• Learning more practical skills in subjects eg – filling out

forms, car/house insurance/how to put up a shelf/cooking/First Aid/Self defence

• More subjects focussing on our personal lives – linking learning to us and our future.

Independence Week

One of the ideas bought forward was a week off timetable to simulate a week at work.

We will be discussing this further to develop ideas at the next student council, so if you have an ideas make sure you tell your tutor prefect.
