  The  date  for  the  2016‐17 4‐H Recogni on Banquet is 6:00 p.m. ‐ Friday, December 8th at  the Extension Office.   If you have par cipated in ANY 4‐H event from September 1, 2016 thru August 31, 2017, you will need to fill out an Awards Record Sheet which can be picked up at the Extension Office or e‐mailed upon request.  The deadline for the form to be submi ed is October 20th and can be done along with your achievement award applica on.   DO NOT WAIT  ll  the  last minute!   Please  check with your  club  leader, Marla or Bonnie if you have ques ons. 

  If  you  would  like  to  learn  more  about  the  Achievement  program  and  get  started  on  your applica on  (or  just  need  help  adding  par cipa on  points  from  an  already  exis ng  applica on),  please make plans to stop by any me between 4:00 ‐ 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 31st at the Extension Office.  No need to call ahead, just show up and Marla S llwell and Stephanie Meredith be here to help!  Another workshop is tenta vely scheduled for Monday, October 9 from 1:00 ‐ 3:00 p.m. at the Extension Office.   

  The  Na onal  4‐H  Council  and  Tractor  Supply  Company  will  be  having  their  Fall Paper Clover Campaign ‐ October 4‐15, 2017 which  coincides with Na onal 4‐H Week, October 1‐7.   Contribu ons received from this campaign goes to support leadership opportuni es and summer camp scholarships.  4‐H clubs are encouraged to contact their local TSC store to arrange an ac vity showcasing their summer events and  achievements  during  the  fall  clover  campaign.    For  addi onal  details  go  online  to: www.tractorsupply.com/4‐H

KY 4‐H VOLUNTEER FORUM SAVE THE DATE! The KY 4‐H Volunteer Forum will be held February 8‐10, 2018 at the Hya  Regency Hotel  in Downtown Lexington and we extend our  invita on to all 4‐H volunteers to a end.   More  informa on will be coming soon but please SAVE THE DATE!  

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED   We are looking for volunteers to help or even lead clubs for Clover Buds (ages 5‐8) and possibly another cooking  club  (ages  9‐14).    If  you  are  interested,  please  contact    Marla  at  the  Extension  Office  or  at marla.s [email protected].    

E’TOWN LIONS CLUB ‐ ANNUAL CHICKEN BAR‐B‐QUE     A  special  shout  out  to  say  “THANKS”  to  Robin & Mallory Garcia, Holly & Nancy Ha ield  and Montana, Savannah & Shelley Roby for taking  me from their busy schedules as they volunteered by helping the E‐town  Lions Club with  their annual  chicken dinner on Saturday, August 19th. CONGRATULATIONS

  CONGRATULATIONS to all our Hardin County 4‐Her’s who par cipated and/or exhibited during the Kentucky State Fair!  Hardin County was well represented!  You brought home an abundance of blue ribbons for everything  from  livestock, cra s, photography, country hams, baked goods,  rabbits, hay, pain ngs and more!  If you have not yet picked up your State Fair Cloverville entries at the Hardin County Extension Office, please make arrangements to do so as soon as possible.   

  We would like to congratulate the newest class of the 4‐H Teen Leadership Academy – Shiann Yates, Gabrielle Wallace, Oliva Reed, Rachel Wiseman, Rachael Nichols and Alternate: Dalton Casey  Orienta on for this year’s class will be held September 21st at Camp Loucon  in Grayson County.   More details will be forthcoming!    If you would  like to know more about this program, please contact Marla S llwell at  (270) 765‐4121 or email marla.s [email protected].

FEATHERS & FLUFF POULTRY/RABBIT CLUB

  GREAT JOB to all those who showed at the KY State Fair.  For some it was their very 1st  me and a learning experience as well!  The club will resume mee ng at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 11th at the Extension Office. New members are welcome  to a end as 2017‐18 enrollments will be completed along with an educa onal  lesson.   At the next mee ng on October 9th the club will prepare a Halloween cra .  The club would  like to welcome Mrs. Hannah Riggs who  is working along with Miss Sandy to become the new club leader.  Please contact Miss Hannah at [email protected]

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who exhibited their animals at the 2017 KY State Fair.   Hardin County con nues  to be well  represented  from country  hams,  lambs,  goats,  swine,  beef  and  rabbits.   Members will  hold their FALL RE‐ENROLLMENT mee ng at the Extension Office ‐ 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12th.   We  will  have  summer  show  updates,  officer nomina ons  and  refreshments!    CPC Fall Field Day  will  be  held  on September  7th  in  Fountain  Run,  KY  and  the  date  for  the  annual  “Dare to Dairy” at UK Dairy Farm in Lexington is October 21st.  If you are interested in going contact Bonnie at 270‐765‐4121.   

HOME SCHOOL CHEFS

  Home School Chefs will meet beginning September14th .   Our focus this year will be meals with 6 or less ingredients.  We will meet once a month on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. ‐ 1:00 p.m..  Please email me any food allergies.  Class limited to 15 and cost is $10.  I look forward to mee ng everyone.  Any ques ons email me at [email protected]

HOT STOVES COOKING CLUB

LEGO DRAGONS ROBOTICS CLUB

  BEST OF LUCK to  Josh Kaminski, Carson Mackey, Bo  Langley, Chance Hay, Mallory Garcia & Adam Graham  for  they will be a ending the State 4‐H Shoo ng Sports compe on September 9 & 10th.     Open enrollment  for  new  and  returning  4‐H members will  be  at  the  October 12th mee ng  6:00  p.m.  at  the Extension Office.  BE SURE to mark your calendars!

TARGET MASTERS

  Hot Stoves Cooking Club  is a monthly 4‐H club that focuses on basic cooking and food prepara on skills.  The club is for youth ages 9 and up.  We will be elec ng officers for Hot Stoves again this year so if you are interested in stepping up to be a leader, come prepared run for an office on the first mee ng night which will be September 18th.    Hot Stoves will be held once a month on Mondays (September‐May)  from 4:30‐6:30 p.m. and  is limited to the first 15 par cipants who register.   Registra on  fees are $10.00 and must be paid upon registra on.  To register, call Joni at the Extension Office – 270‐765‐4121.  

BOBBINS SEWING CLUB

  Bobbins Sewing Club is for youth ages 9‐18 who are interested in sewing.  Beginners and experienced sewers welcome!   Ms. Gail and Ms. Wanda are excited to be helping out again this year and will meet 1‐2 mes a month on Wednesdays from 4:00 ‐ 6:00 p.m.  The first mee ng will be Wednesday, September 13.

CLOVER BUDS CLUB

TEEN CLUB

  Calling all youth ages 5‐8 (or K‐3rd grade) to join Hardin County 4‐H Clover Buds!!!  Just like the 4‐H program  for older youth, the purpose of the 4‐H Clover Buds program  is to help young children  learn  life skills to become competent, caring and contribu ng ci zens.  The primary goal of the Clover Buds program is  to promote children's healthy development  ‐ mentally, physically, socially and emo onally.   The Clover Buds Club will meet once monthly on the 3rd Saturday from 10:00 a.m.‐12:00 p.m. at the Hardin County Extension Office.   Parents or  guardians  are  required  to par cipate with  their  child  to encourage healthy rela onships with caring adults.   The Clover Buds first club mee ng will be held Saturday, September 16th from 10‐12 at the Extension Office.  Please call ahead to reserve your spot – 270‐765‐4121 (ask for Joni).  

  Back by popular demand,  the 4‐H Photography Club will  resume mee ng  in  September and we would  like to welcome a new club  leader, Kayla Hartlage!     We will kick things off on September 21st at 5:30 p.m. Mee ngs are held once a month on 3rd Thursdays from 5:30 ‐ 6:30 p.m. at  the Extension Office.  Please call the Extension Office to register 270‐765‐4121.
